Let MJ make his own decisions. It's like sex change when you don't feel like you're the right gender. But not a lot of people even considered that he felt as if he wasn't meant to be black. It was his choice, Quincy leave it.

Michael did not want to be white, and who cares if he did?!?!?! It's his body. He had a disease, which caused his skin to blotch and lighten. In my opinion, he simply accepted his disease and did something about it (bleached his skin). Who the F wants to have super blotchy skin? I think it was a smart move for Michael.
Problem is, everyone is so frightened of people who are not main stream, who are different, therefore we start hating on them. Michael was a good person, a talented person, who in my opinion did so much for everyone in this world. If you don't like him it's because of your closed minded-ness.
PEACE and ACCEPTANCE are all that matter. We should all learn that.

Some of these comments about Jones hating his race because he married a white woman really piss me off. He married someone he loved, who just happened to be white. Not everything has to be about race, and there's no reason why you should limit yourself to only dating people with the same skin tone as yours, that's just ridiculous. People come in all colors and shapes! It's a good thing! Embrace it!
Oh, so this is the reason he is not going to the funeral! There is a name for people like that! I just lost some respect for him.

He said on many ocassions that he has vitiligo, people just choose not to believe him because of the way the media liked to portray him. He did have the disease and I know someone who also suffers from it. It starts out little patches, which MJ fixed with makeup but then eventually there was more white than black. The man I know who has it was just like this.. he still has a few patches of his old skin colour on his arms but the rest of him is snow white. You can bleach those patches to make the skin an even colour but MJ never deliberately tried to make himself white. I'm sick of this shit with people believing nothing he said.

I find it interesting that Quincy Jones made these comments yet he considered MJ to be his friend/little brother. Unfortuantely, Michael Jackson is no longer here to defend himself, and if anything we all know that he experienced significant trauma from his childhood that may have led to his image issues and strange behavior as an adult.But Mr. Jones show some respect, like you said in the article you are a musician/producer not a psychiatrist so how about you make comments about MJ's music not his personal life.

Am I the only one who believes that he wanted to look like Peter Pan? The boy that didn't want to grow up and lived on Neverland was white as far as I know. MJ did a great job, even the nose is cartoon like.

I believe it was both. Michael had vitiligo. And, he also bleached his skin, and did chemical peels to even out his skin. I do also believe, Michael did everything in his power to not look like father.
It is sad that we have lost such a great musician, however after reading the Details Article- I don't think Quincy said anything out of wrong- it might have been bad timing but I feel his honesty (Quincy has been around very long !!!! and he knows and fully understands the ins and outs of this business!!!!). I fully support his statement about getting over the child tramuma situation or at least dealing with it. It didn't seem like Micheal wanted to deal with a lot of things are even face the reality. Almost all of the black people in my city are lazy, drug dealing, welfare suckers. Also, the blacks around here still wear picks in their hair. Maybe they didn't get the memo that it went out in the 70's. I highly doubt that many of them pick up the newspaper or read the internet. The only thing I've heard of monkey's knowing how to do is use tools….such as the crack pipe.

1. vitiligo. in interviews about it he seemed quite upset about the condition. he kept saying "i don't understand, i don't understand" but he knew it was hereditary and that it came from his fathers side. there are heaps of photos where you can see his patchy skin, especially on his stomach from kind of around the thriller period when there weren't as many products with overly great coverage to hide his condition.
2. he still identified as black. there are quite a few interviews on youtube where he referred to himself without hesitation as a black man, especially in the 2000's. I think with age he really regretted changing his nose, but I guess he was desperate for his features to match his changing skin colour.

I think it is a bit rude of him to only come out and say this now and not have the guts to before but hey, he knew michael better than any of us. I have seen black people with vitiligo before but only small patches on their arms. I just looked it up on 'google images' and was shocked at how it can cover the entire body and make a black person look white or so white that they would probably wish to even out their skin tone somehow and become totally white. There are also some pictures of michael where you can see his skin has this look about it. Poor guy.
