Give me one aspect of Madonna's music that's unique. Her albums are nothing but a few hit singles surrounded by filler, and FYI, she only co-writes her songs, which is mostly the juvenile lyrics you hear. Ray of Light is not brilliant; she was just riding the techno craze of the 90s, but you idiot fans think it is some magnum opus. The whole spirituality meets motherhood was a better album when it was called I DO NOT WANT WHAT I HAVEN'T GOT by Sinead O'Connor. You think she has a monopoly on longevity? Sorry, Barbra Streisand (who still sells out concerts and has platinum albums in this decade, and was at the height of her fame 30 and 40 years into her career), Cher, Tina Turner, etc. have ber beat. She's only consistent because she refuses to go away, but ask any stranger on the street if they can remember her last hit. Having a larger than life persona is fine, but when the music you're putting out is substandard, then that's where I call her bluff. I don't buy the double standard bullshit. People like Heart, Joan Jett, and Pat Benatar have been fighting that battle long before Madonna. Madonna actually set the womens movement backwards, and you can thank her for all these talentless artists whom are more famous for their face and their crazy antics than their music. As for me not sounding smart, I can type the word "the" and it would sound more intelligent than the babble you're spewing.

ask any stranger on the street if they know the name of even one barba streisand album! the only reason y she sells out concerts is because she does one every 10 or 20 years! the record buying public is people in their teens and i woulld like you to tell me how many of those people know what barbra's or tina's last hit was! madonna has the record for the biggest grossing tour by a female artist with her confessions tour and broke that record 2 yrs later with her sticky and sweet tour, u can have an opinion all u want but u can't argue against facts! and as for the so called juvenile lyrics ur clearly out of ur mind, not every song of madonna's is like a virgin or material girl, she has a lot of very in-depth and meaningful lyrics. the length of a song is on average 4 minutes, what's the point in putting whatever message u have as an artist in a complex style when you can minimize the message into simple lyrics and have a hook that keeps the song alive for years. sinead o'connor may have done ray of light before her but its madonna's record that will be remembered!

To be honest, I really don't hate Madonna, but I don't think she's that great of an artist either. It's her fans that I despise. They constantly throw around her sales figures like that's supposed to mean something, when there's a lot of great artists who put out better music that don't even sell an eighth of what Madonna does. They claim she's so influential, yet they hate anyone who rivals her success (Janet, Mariah), and they claim everyone copies her when in fact she has copied everyone else. Anyone who doesn't match her success, to them, is a failure.
I liked her way before most of her die-hard fans did back when she was a cool, street-wise, club singer with an urban sound dancing in low-budget videos with her brother. Then she became famous overnight and sold her soul and EVERYONE started liking her. While all my classmates thought she was so daring and brave, I saw right through her charade; it was all so phony and apparent. You're right..she has said unflattering things about Sinead, because she couldn't stand the fact that Sinead was controversial with some conviction behind it, and doing not doing it just for the sake of being controversial. She also made jabs about Paula Abdul (I know, bad choice, but she did have a successful although short music career) and other female artists as well, and her fans and the media licked it up.

You make this so easy. For one, Barbra has never been a singles artist. As a matter of fact, she was the most successful female singer of the 60s (as well as other decades), and 1) she didn't have to use her looks to be such, 2) she wasn't making conventional pop records like her peers, and 3) she only had two top 40 hits during that whole decade. The fact that she STILL is releasing top 10 albums in this decade without the aid of a video or hit single or hooking up with Justin Timberlake or Timbaland is a testament to her talent. Madonna's only the most successful concert draw because 1) she had to outdo Cher's Farewell Tour, which was the most successful tour by a female before Madonna's tour and 2) she charges an arm and leg for her tickets, and and is making double off those tickets by recouping the profits from online scalpers (google Madonna, LiveNationa, and scalpers). I'm sorry, but the only people that are going to remember RAY OF LIGHT are Madonna fans.

Sure she works hard. Who doesn't? She may not display some of the self-destructive behavior of a lot of other artists, but that's part of her vanity to not let her weakness show. It's well legendary that she treats people like shit, and I'm sure she's had her private breakdowns. There are a lot of artists that work harder that aren't as successful because they refuse to play into that model she created that you have to bear your ass literally to be a success. It doesn't piss me off that you all enjoy her music; it pisses me off that you all give her unnecessary accolades that aren't true. ("She's so innovative" "She re-invents herself"..blah blah blah). As far as her tribute to MJ, which I never said anything about, I do believe that she was sincere in doing it..I'll give her that. I wasn't blown away by it, but hey. The fact that people are skeptical about her intentions, well what can you expect when her whole career was based on attention-getting tactics? You can't be mad at people who think this is just another one of them.

You seem to forget Cher signed a 60 million dollar deal just a few years ago for a two year engagement at Caesar's palace. Compare that to Madonna's 10 year deal at $120 mil, and Cher comes out the winner, getting paid more to do less work in a shorter period of time. Cher was the most successful female concert draw until Madonna beat her, but everyone will always remember Cher's over Sticky and Stale. Madonna may have sold more records, but Cher did take time out of her career to, you know–raise her children.

What do you mean MJ is nothing now? He just sold out his London shows months before his death. His re-release of THRILLER was one of the top selling albums of last year. Fact-checking is a good thing, bro. People are not acting like they love him because he's dead; most of the outpouring and grief out there is sincere. I'm sure when Madonna dies, you'll be seeing more fake love from once-haters. Just because he doesn't release albums or tour every 3 years or so, it doesn't make him less relevant. MJ was able to sit at home for several years and do nothing, and still no one could touch his sales. You really need to stop comparing everyone to Madonna.
One of the greatest artists the world has ever known? Coming from Madonna, a woman of very little talent, other then self promotion, it means exactly sweet FA. He was functionally illiterate and had no ability to adapt. His music wasn't even his it was Quincy Jones'. Quincy is the genius that people keep touting as MJ. I liked Thriller along with millions of others, but his vocals were never strong they were suitable for a few pop songs when he was young, but he never had any range. Grabbing ones testicles and screeching does not count as range it's just disgusting. The King of Pop is a joke MJ crowned himself with that title he never earned it.
Vulgar vag looked like an ass in this video. Not sure what stunt she is trying to pull except for the fact that she equates herself up there with King of Pop. While people know her queen of pop, she has mediocre talent; unlike MJ. MJ was brilliant as a performer. Vulgar vag only used people (including MJ…she latched onto him for further fame) and her body to get ahead for sheer adulation…nothing more, nothing less.

You might get a lot of angry feedback, but I totally agree. I was a casual MJ fan, and couldn't help but listen to them since several of his albums were in my household as I was growing up. THRILLER was one of those feel-good albums that remind you of a certain time and decade, but after that, his music started going downhill, IMO–it started to sound more and more like kiddie-pop. He did go through some kind of angry phase, though, but no one would ever take that part of him seriously. He is an amazing dancer, but his dance moves started to become played out after a while. Although I'm in awe of his success, I never really understood what really was so "magical" about him, as he's often described. He always seemed to be a tragic figure–perhaps that was his appeal.
