Blind Contestant On Australia's Dancing With the Stars!
Filed under: Reality Television > AustraliasticWe're sure the American producers are pissed they weren't able to pull this off first!
We've had a paraplegic and a deaf person, but we have yet to have a visually impaired contestant!
Blind Paralympian Gerrad Gosens just debuted on Australia's Dancing With the Stars and he did a GREAT job.
Truly inspiring!
Check out his first dance….above.

If you are talking about Heather Mills, she is not a parapegic. She had an amputation. Paraplegic is someone who is partially paralyzed on the lower part of their body.
The really sad thing is that I actually agree with your first statement! I can only imagine how quickly one will be found for the next season….or for another show. (Although we did have Scott from American Idol this year) But good for him to go on!
Wow, I loved IT!!! How great he is!!
Perez, I know you are just ignorant of the disability community and the disability movement that has been happening in the United States for the last 30 years like every other American, but please… be PC about disability terms. Heather Mills is not a paraplegic. She is a partial amputee. And for heaven's sake — IT IS NOT INSPIRING FOR A PERSON WITH A DISABILITY TO DO EVERYDAY "NORMAL" THINGS. Perhaps his dancing is inspiring if you are a dancer, but the fact that he dances is not inspiring alone. It is very demeaning to people with disabilities to be "inspiring," "brave," or "courageous" because we get out of bed and eat breakfast just like every one else.
That already happened in the Spanish version, like a year ago. The celebrity was a blind spanish musician and actor.
He soooo hit it.
God, you're an idiot.
You are such a TOOL! Do you even read what you write? Or are you too busy trying to dig up dirt on Will.I Am.?
Heather Mills is not a paraplegic, she is an amputee. Big difference. big Insulting difference you pin head. Have some respect. Now of course you won't even apologize to all the people who you have offended.
It is inspiring because he has never even seen dance before. It just makes you think if this man who can go on national TV and dance (and even climb Mount Everest) can do these things without sight, maybe our lives aren't that hard after all.
THATS MY COUSIN IN THE BLUE DRESS IN THE BACKGROUND IN THE GREEN ROOM. YES. FAME.
OMG! You have got some BALLS!!!! Oh NO! Wait! You DONT! STFU..sorry ass mutherfucker. you wouldnt know good manners if they hit you in your big fat ugly faced head!
JESSICA IS AMAZING!!
Wow… Awe inspiring!!! Just goes to show you can do anything you put your mind to.
You people are such morons…. A Paralympian is someone who competes in an international competition for athletes with disabilities. Perez is not calling him a paraplegic.
Parapalegic? You guys are so ignorant.
Good on him!
Wow, inspirational.
FYI: There has never been a paraplegic on DWTS you dumbass! .
.
HEATHER MILLS WAS AN AMPUTEE!!!
.
A paraplegic is someone who is PARALYZED….I guess you (or whichever of your idiot writers wrote this) is too stupid to function.
Anybody can do anything. Period. This is inspiring, so he deserves the chance. You go boy!!
Re: TMC1312 – Um, actually, dumbass, that's exactly what he said: "We've had a paraplegic and a deaf person"…the word "Paralympian" isn't anywhere in this post.
.
I believe that makes you the moron.
lolllllll perez yes this guy did a hugely great job considering hes never danced before in his life
Re: TMC1312 – Read the whole article before you call people morons. No one is talking about the use of "paralympian" my dear.
There was no paraplegic. Time to do a little reading and learning, P.
Re: caeleste – I'm sorry to disagree with you, but you can't change what is or isn't inspiring to somebody. I am inspired by people with disabilities doing everyday things all the time. I can't help that I am, and I'm sorry that it's insulting to them, but I can't change how I feel.
good on him
Good for him ! xx
this makes me so proud to be aussie. i actually get teary-eyed when i watch this. he is so inspirational.
