Sources close to The O.C. wacktress are claiming Barton was placed under an involuntary psychiatric hold because they were afraid she would kill herself.
According to reports Mischa was apparently in the middle of a three-day coke binge when pals called the cops because they believed the friend might take her own life if they didn't intervene!
"She is a mess. She is a suicidal, uninsurable mess," says one of Mushy's friends to reporters.
What a friend!
Barton missed the NYC premiere of her new film, Homecoming last week due to the 5150 hold, and her friends know this is bad, bad news for Mischa's career.
Says one friend: "She is a tortured and troubled person. You can survive a bad review, but when you don't show up for the premiere of your new film, it's not a good sign of where your career is heading."
Um, seriously!
Mischa is quickly blowing through all of her $$$$, and friends believe that Mush Mush is "on a downward spiral," which was crystal clear last week at a hotel in El Lay.
According to reports, Mushy was "stumbling around poolside" and took her top off, showing off her ta-ta's to hotel guests!
Barton is still under an involuntary psychiatric hold at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center's psych ward in Los Angeles.

Seriously, look at all these comments, Perez. It ain't funny, and you need to know where to draw the line. Somebody said, "history will not be kind to you and the cruelty you created" or something similar…and I think you really need to consider that. Whatever Misha did to slight you…whatever went down between you two, it couldn't have been so vicious that you don't care if she lives or dies. I used to think this site was funny but I stopped making comments a few weeks ago when it suddenly seemed so full of itself, so redundant, so snipping, so manipulative, so annoying and so much like BS lies that I started just scanning but now I'm never coming back on, period. I'm a psych nurse at a major Los Angeles hospital and let me tell you people that are on legal holds for danger to self are in a lot of pain and self-loathing already, you don't need to diminish them further and try to push them further over the edge by calling them names. We place them on holds so they don't hurt themselves and here you are trying to convince them their lives are not worth living. You cried like a baby for getting that black eye and was so surprised you got no sympathy. You are a low life and all your money cannot disguise that so brace yourself for more karma.

I know you get headlines and press for calling Mischa Baron "Mush Mush" and "Fartone," but the fact of the matter is that law enforcement found her to be a danger to herself and/or others. Therefore, as entertaining as it may be to poke fun at her career, I beg you to please refrain from the adolescent taunts during this time. I am sure you would wish for people to extend you the same courtesy if you were to ever find yourself in this situation.

Okay, this is sad, but let me tell all you people accusing a blogger for her problems one thing: the business she chose is a hard business. It has high rewards, but also high scrutiny. Now, why don't you look at some of the bad reviews that critics have given throughout history. They can be downright cruel to actors and movies. It's the nature of the business. She got some really bad reviews for her latest piece of work and it wasn't Perez giving the bad reviews. She has had a string of flops and she's doing drugs, if this rumor proves to be true. So, pointing your fingers at Perez, whom I sometimes believe can be hypocritical as well, is really unwarranted. As an ex-drug user, a current alcoholic, and an emotional wreck, I wouldn't get into show business no matter what you paid me. Drugs do crazy things to your brain, and using them to escape the pain of critical failure is doubly bad. I speak from experience. Downward spirals can be the result. All of the biggest and brightest stars in Hollywood have been victims of harsh and cruel criticism. It's the nature of the business.

I feel so sorry for her. Plus, i want to add that this involuntary commital for 72 hours is standard. For instance, even if a person voluntarily checked in to a place and then regretted it, they -as a matter of standard procedure-could not automatically check out but would have to wait the 72 hour term. It is a law set up in case a person who is a true danger to society tries to check out immediately. That way the doctor has a 72 hour period to decide whether to get that person court committed for longer and if he or she does decide to pursue it the hospital has that 72 hour period to act. So, this does not mean what Perez would like you to believe
