Former model Noot Seear has been cast as villianess Volturi vampire Heidi in New Moon.
"I started reading the books and I couldn't put them down," says the model who has strutted for Alexander Wang and Proenza Schouler.
A model who reads?!

"We wanted someone who had an unearthly and unlikely beauty, but could also convey humor and menace," says New Moon director Chris Weitz. "It's rare to find a stunningly attractive person who also happens to have the ability to act."
We don't want her anywhere near R-Patz!
"I've always been biting at the bit to get into the industry," says Seear. "Modeling was great to me. I made a lot of money doing it. [But] what makes acting different is that you get a voice. You're not just a picture."
Like this opportunity would have been available to her if she didn't offer that "picture."

I think they need more models (as long as they can act…), as the books always go on about how beautiful everyone is, but with the exception of Edward I find the Cullens cast in the film to be very average looking.

Some Canadian content, she was born in BC. I guess she wanted to sound more exotic though, changing her name from Renata to Noot. A very odd choice, perhaps a nod to her Dutch background.
