Dear Rachel Griffiths, That's No Way To Hold A Baby!

Filed under: Baby Blabber > Australiastic > Z List

Australian wacktress Rachel Griffiths needs to stop following Octo-Mom's guide to parenting!

The Brothers & Sisters star was spotted on Monday taking her newborn, Clementine Grace, to the Encino Medcal Center in Encino, California.

Griffiths took her month-old daughter in for a checkup, but someone should be checking on Rachel.

Aren't you supposed to support your newborn's head?

And that just doesn't seam to be the best way to carry a child either.

You're holding onto your baby, not a bag of groceries!

OMG what is UP with her hands?!?! If i didnt see her face, i woud've thought they belonged to a gramma or something… damn..

  2. 2

It's perfectly fine to hold a one month old baby like that.

  3. 3

You're an idiot; most parents hold new babies like that. It helps with gas.

  4. 4

WTF? It's fine to hold the baby that way. Get over it!

  5. 5

? You need to support the head from falling back; she has it supported sufficiently forward. This looks like a well-practiced mom to me. Stop trying to drum up crap, Perez.

  6. 6

It's called a football hold u fat-tard..You obviously don't know anything about kids. She has three. Nice try.

  7. 7

    She looks out of it..

  8. 8

WTF? You dont hold any child that way, especially not a child that is ONE MONTH OLD!

  9. 9

Lots of babies like to be held like this. THere is nothing wrong with it.

  10. 10

    Serious man hands!
    Whoa!
    .
    Head should be more supported.

  11. 11

Lots of ppl hold babies like that… The baby is actually totally supported enough…

  12. 12

Um for somebody who has never had kids you are quick to judge. Actually mom's hold their babies like this all the time. It is not going to break jackass.

  13. 13

Um hate to break it to u perez…but this is an all time favorite mommy holding technique……although the ridiculously full load she's carrying does admittedly make it look pretty bad

  14. 14

Oh please. The baby is fine. You're supposed to support the head so it doesn't fall back. Relax man.

  15. 15

perez your a complete moron, what do you know about holding a baby. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the way she's holding her baby and the little tyke probably loves being on his belly. Its if his neck was crained back it might be too much.
Shut up and stop reporting on shit you know nothing about

  16. 16

it's ok to hold a baby like that. not a big deal. stop trying to start something.

  17. 17

just a version of the football hold. that is as long as she doesn't whack her head off the car mirror. really, babies are a lot tougher than we think. I am not saying to let her little head flop all over the place, but as a mom of 4, yes there are many different ways to hold a baby that might not be the usual. Plus the best way to burp them is to sit them on your lap and hold their chin with your hand as you pat them on their back….that looks strange too to someone who has never had a baby.

  18. 18

When my daughter was a baby, I was advised to carry her this way as she had some health issues that made this a more comfortable position for her. I hope Rachel's baby is fine and healthy - she's a dollie! :)

  19. 19

This is the perfect way to hold a colicky baby. As you can see…the head is being supported with Rachel's arm.

  20. 20

The baby looks fine to me. I guess this is the kind of posts you get from people who don't have children. I don't really get this one Perez.

  21. 21

THE BABY IS FINE!!! WHAT THE HELL DO YOU KNOW ABOUT BABIES!? Stop judging parents for every tiny thing when you don't really know what you are talking about.

  22. 22

your an idiot perez, who are you to say how a baby should be held!

  23. 23

The baby looks fine to me! Stop making an issue out of nothing!!

  24. 24

A mother of two here… the football carry is very good for gas. That baby's fine. Rarely do I disagree with you, but you do moms a disservice with stuff like this. How many babies have you raised?

  25. 25

Re: Craic Head – YOUR AN IDIOT …IT IS PERFECTLY FINE TO HOLD AN INFANT LIKE THAT..ESPECIALLY IF THEY ARE GASSY.

  26. 26

It's called the football hold. Its really weird, and non-parents usually have trouble with it, but when my cousin was a baby this was the only way he could be held without him crying.

and you support a baby's head to keep it from falling backwards, and preventing an impact to the skull's soft spot. this baby looks totally fine. Not very happy, but babies dont smile for a few months

  27. 27

You're an idiot, Perez, it is perfectly ok to hold a 1 month old like that, as a matter of fact, many parents hold this way because of the baby's tummy. Each baby is different and likes to be held in different positions. My daughter liked to be facing out (like this) my son liked to be facing in, towards my back.

  28. 28

Perez, I think your hilarious, but, yes, that is another way to hold a baby. A lot of babies are more comfortable looking out and having a bit of pressure on their belly. The head is also fine. I have 4 kids, so I'm a few up on you with the baby knowledge.

  29. 29

    wtf is she doing….or thinking

  30. 30

That's exactly how I held my kids when they were that small. She knows exactly what's she's doing. gay men can't comment on this, are you serious? A mother KNOWS! I don't see the baby crying.

  31. 31

    you're an idiot.

  32. 32

She looks kind of out of it, and really mannish. Are you sure she's not packing some sausage?

  33. 33

Arm yes but dangling a bit I think.

  34. 34

perez - until you are parent - you probably shouldn't judge - i held my daughter that way at times -it really helped when i would try to burp her - she is 12 now and i like to think i did a pretty amazing job :)

  35. 35

Good Lord, Perez. You have no business writing about parenting/baby issues. This is a perfectly acceptable way to hold a baby. Stick to writing about flakey gossip.

  36. 36

My daughter had colic and it's more comfortable for babies with tummy issues to be held this way. It's perfectly safe and you can see she is resting her daughter's head on her arm.

  37. 37

Correct way to hold a baby or not she def. isnt a "wacktress" ? She was amazing on Six Feet Under. Not as amazing as some of the other actors from that show, but good none the less!

  38. 38

actually perez, babies tend to really like this position. gravity keeps their head from flailing back - what you DON'T wanna do, and for some reason a lot of babies helps with gas, etc.

Keep on trashing people's clothes, but don't go into child care. you don't know.

  39. 39

who are you to judge someones parenting??? thers nothing wrong with how shes holding the baby. dummy.

  40. 40

For someone who doesn't have kids; let alone a relationship, you sure like to comment on someone elses parenting. That hold moron, is like the football hold. Until you have children of your own that's when you comment all you want. (Btw, I am a mother of 2).

  41. 41

haha yes it is it's cald "the hold" it helps babies with bad tummies, gas and colic. Haha silly Perez

  42. 42

The head i supported. And it's totaly ok to hold a baby that way. In fact it often helps to do so if the baby has a tummy ache.

  43. FOM says – reply to this

    43

Yes, that is the way to hold a baby. I have had two babies and I have held them like that AND I have seen doctors and nurses hold babies like that.

  44. 44

I'm sure the baby is fine. She does have other kids. petty much? Her hands are on the OMG WTF side though. Write about them.

  45. 45

The baby doesn't seem to mind it… And that is a good way to hold the baby.

  46. 46

actually it is an acceptable way to hold a baby, especially if they are crying and have colic

  47. 47

wow perez, you really are an idiot! that is a perfectly acceptable way to hold a baby! Have you ever held a baby perez??? Both of my kids loved to be held in this position when they were tiny infants.

  48. Nakie says – reply to this

    48

Everyone holds their babies like that!!!!!!!!

  49. 49

    ????

  50. 50

omg! look at her hands! they look so oldd…nd wrinklyy ewww

  51. 51

LOL ur silly, babies love to be held like that. It's soothing especially if they spit up a lot, they're head really only rolls from side to side and back, it's ok if it's forward like that. Anyone, who thinks you shouldn't hold a baby that way obviously doesn't have any, it's called a football hold and they love it. Everyone calm the F down.

  52. 52

    Perez,
Honey, you stepped in it. Mommy holds and parenting are not your forte'. Stick to what you know, lest you sound like an uneducated ass. You haven't been bringing your A game in a couple of weeks. What's up sweet cheeks?
    QB33

  53. 53

Isn't this her 2nd or 3rd? It's funny how lax they become with each child. The kid is fine. I think actually, not being a mother myself, I am always much more worried than the parent is about how to hold, they just scoop up and their good. Cute baby.

  54. 54

Um, she's got 3 children and your got what, how many? Nothing wrong with holding a baby like that. Perhaps you should just stick to perving on young boys…

  55. 55

Good lord Perez….that's called a 'Football' hold and it's actually find and safe for baby. In fact it's easy on their digestion being semi on their tummie and slightly elevated AND no sun in the eyes. Good for colicky babies..as mine were. Chill out…..but yes…she is a creepy crazy cat lady looking mess though….

  56. 56

It is perfectly fine to hold a baby like that. I am done with this stupid site. Perez I am glad you got beat up

  57. 57

I agree, her hands are freaky!!
    & it's seem :)

  58. 58

Stick to what you know - like Lady Gag-Gag - and leave the parenting classes to those who acually KNOW that this is a perfectly fine way to hold a baby.

  59. 59

YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND BABIES!! KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT ABOUT THEM OR DO YOUR RESEARCH!!
    .
YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND POLITICS!! KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT OR DO YOUR RESEARCH!!

  60. 60

You don't have to support the baby's head when you hold it like she does, IT'S NOT LIKE IT'S GONNA FLIP BACKWARDS! Since when did YOU become a baby expert? You only have a dog. And besides it is a perfectly good way to hold a baby. It can even help colic.

  61. 61

Perez wtf are you talking about? Are you a mother? There is nothign wrong with her holding the baby that way since it is very small and not mobile yet. It is very secure. Its pretty much what you'd call "football" hold. The most important thing is that the baby's head and neck are not lolling around which they are not being held this way.

  62. 62

This was my 3 kids favorite way to be held. Everytime they were colicky I would carry them this way and it would soothe them immedietly. Perez should take a newborn care class before commenting and really coming off like a uneducated idiot.

  63. 63

Dude, you're a MAN. You don't know these things.
A very small baby should be hald like this, because you can't hold them 'the regular' way up, because their spines and muscles are too weak yet.
And besides, it's nobody deal, it's not like she's dragging the baby my the foot.

  64. 64

Clearly you have NEVER held a baby before in you f'in LIFE! She is beautiful…and baby is perfect…and you are an asshole!

  65. 65

this is the first time ive said this to you… but youre an idiot.
you know nothing about having children, so shut the fuck up about how she is holding her child. many mothers and fathers hold their children like that. nothing is wrong with it.

  66. 66

LOL PEREZ!!! It's perfectly fine to hold a one month old baby like that.
It's cald "the hold" it helps babies with bad tummies, gas and colic.

  67. 67

Perez-you obvisouly need to have a kid of your own. Nothing wrong with how she is holding that chld. By time a child is a month old-they are starting to support their own heads and this is a good position so baby can rely on arm for support allowing him to pick up his head when he wants!

  68. 68

That's a perfectly acceptable way to hold a baby.
In the end what matters is whether the baby and its momma are comfortable :)

  69. 69

fuck u perez. thats a fine way to hold a baby. stop causing drama. guess news was slow today

  70. 70

Christ Almighty - please quit trying to give parenting advice, you really have no clue!!!

  71. 71

Perez… I have two kids. That's perfectly fine to hold a newborn like that. As long as she's not swinging the baby like a sack of taters, its fine. Babies actually like being held like that. (At least my two kids liked it.)

  72. 72

Actually, that's a fine way to hold a baby. :)

and 'seem' is not spelled 'seam' :)

  73. 73

Seriously, you are an asshat Perez. The football hold is excellent for little ones who might be having a hard time with gas or colic. Do your research before you post inconsiderate things about great mothers.

  74. 74

Yeah…I think we are missing the most important part of the picture here. What's up with her hands?? They look as if they're made of wax…the hands of an 80 year old.

  75. 75

Looks like everyone covered my comment! the baby is fine and probably more comfortable like that.

  76. 76

What the hell would you know about baby holding Perez? Rachel is holding the baby just fine.

  77. 77

Shut your pie hole dumbass…until you have a kid, don't comment on something you absolutely don't know about!!!

    Pole smoker!!!

  78. 78

She IS supporting the head. She is also preventing aspiration from occurring if the baby spits up. Oh, and helping the baby to burp up any gas.

  79. 79

There's nothing wrong with how she's holding that baby. Perezzy, stick to whatcha know.

  80. 80

Stop talking about shit you don't know anything about! It makes you SEEM more stupid than you actually are.

  81. 81

Are you kidding, many people hold babies like that, especially if they are gassy. Christ. Someone without a child should probably not comment on other people's parenting skills.

  82. 82

How many newborns have you had perez?! That is actually the preferred way to hold a newborn with reflux, so before you run your mouth and critsize someone's parenting skills do some research.

  83. 83

I don't see anything wrong with the way she's holding her baby, and you really look dumb with this post. I like when you talk shit about celebs who are true idiots, but you ought to apologize to Rachel Griffiths for this one. I think she looks pretty, too. Most new moms look terrible most of the time. The hands-on moms, anyway. Good for her, and good for her kiddo.

  84. 84

My babies all loved being held like that, with my hands supporting their little tummies.

  85. 85

This is actually a great way to hold an infant, they love it!!! The head support thing refers to making sure the head doesn't fall backwards.

  86. 86

Agreeing with everyone before me…it's fine to hold the baby like that, my twin boys loved the football hold too.

  87. 87

You need to get yourself some new writers, Mario. Drumming up drama is cheap. Spelling seems as "seams" is idiotic. Lastly, that is a perfectly acceptable way to hold an infant. Her head is supported completely, I mean really, where the hell is it going to flop? The child is unable to defy gravity unless you want to start some possessed infant rumors. That seems to be the direction this blog is going anyway. Grow up.

  88. 88

There is nothing wrong with that, idiot. Stop making yourself look like you could ever be a decent parent. I shudder at the thought.

  89. 89

Perez, have you read these comments?
Once again, you were OWNED. That's become a real trend lately.
You need to stop being so arrogant and do a little damage control of your own instead of focusing on trying to find dirt on every one else. There seems to be plenty of crisis in your own life right now.

  90. 90

… for everybody saying she loooks out of it, the baby is a month old, and theres nothing wrong with the way shes holding her baby either fatass, stop trying to cause problems when there isnt.

  91. LR says – reply to this

    91

That's actually a really great way to hold a baby. It helps settle their little tummies

  92. 92

There is nothing wrong with the way she's holding that baby. Most of them LOVE that. You should apologize for being an idiot.

  93. 93

She's not a new mom!! This is the football hold and perfectly fine… it helps with gas and frees up your other hand… the babies head is resting on her arm… that baby is perfectly fine… I'm wondering more about Rachel's hands and her coloring too… she looks kinda yellow…

  94. 94

If the baby's stomach is upset or if the baby is gassy/colicy — this is the best way to hold the baby.

  95. 95

This is exactly how you can hold a baby, it is comfortable and supports everything. Shows you what you know about babies P.

  96. 96

    your a douche

  97. 97

The baby is fine, just hope she looks out for side view mirrors…

  98. 98

That is called the football hold …. perfectly soothing for newborns.

  99. 99

i LOVE when people w/o children act like they know everything about parenting, PEREZ! one thing about children: when they aren't happy, aren't comfortable or in pain–they will let you know!

  100. 100

Re: HellenKiller – Please learn that it is "you're" not "your"……please…..
