We find it so interesting that it is always the conservative folk who tend to do the naughtiest things!
A sports writer for New Hampshire’s Union Leader was arrested yesterday for allegedly conducting a prostitution ring through Craigslist!
See, you really can get anything on that website!
The gentleman, Kevin Provencher, apparently has been running the operation in nearby Massachusetts, where he had hired, through Craigslist, about five women, two of which who are already slated to testify.
After putting the girls through an “audition” (you need to drive the car yourself before you buy it), he worked through websites likebackpage.com, cityvibe.com and theeroticreview.com to recruit clients. He would then rent out rooms at local hotels for weeks or months at a time, claiming to the management that “his wife or girlfriend” was staying their while he was at work.
When employees of one hotel caught on to his game, they alerted the police, who surveillanced the area and apprehended several clients for questioning. One of the officers on the scene that day “could clearly hear activities consistent with sexual intercourse.├óΓé¼┬¥
As of now, Mr. Provencher has been charged with two felonies and if convicted, he faces a prison term of five years and a $5,000 fine on each charge.
It should be comforting for him to know that at least his place of employment stands behind him… kind of. The management of the Union Leader released this statement: ├óΓé¼┼ôMr. Provencher has been a valued employee for many years. He is innocent until proven guilty. However, given the nature and seriousness of the charges, he is suspended until further notice.├óΓé¼┬¥
Ha! So much for camaraderie.
