So last May, fashion designer Dawn Simorangkir sued our favorite Twittering trainwreck, Courtney Love, because the designer was “the latest victim of Love’s volatile personality, hair trigger temper, and malicious and tortious behavior.”
Well, Miz Love is now demanding the suit be tossed out!
The designer, who Courtney called a “vile horrible lying bitch” on Twitter, said Love began the internet smear campaign against her because Court flipped out when she sent Love a bill for a custom dress she designed for the singer.
According to legal docs, Courtney says Simorangkir in fact stole “hundreds of thousands of dollars” of clothing from her room at the Chateau Marmont and proceeded to sell Love’s old rags on Etsy!
She REALLY had “hundreds of thousands of dollars” worth of clothes there????
Courtney went on to trash Simorangkir on Etsy, Twitter and Love’s own personal blog, calling the designer out as “a cocaine dealer, a thief, an embezzler, a racist and a homophobe.”
Court’s lawyer says Simorangkir has no right to sue his client because “alternative mediums such as Twitter and personal Web blogs enjoy the same First Amendment protection as do newspapers, television and radio. It is important that this cherished right not be marginalized when speech is communicated via the Internet. Ms. Cobain enjoys using Twitter and expressing her views… to her fans and those who are interested in following what she has to say.”
The designer’s legal reps have no intentions of throwing the case out, because they’re positive if the matter is brought in front of a jury, they’ll side with Simorangkir.
Sounds like slander to us!
