And it was not pleasant!
Gerard Butler was involved in an argument with an elderly Queens couple after their dogs got in a fight near the Long Island City set of his film The Bounty on Monday.
It depends which story you believe, but Fred and Maria Varecka claim that Butler viciously yelled at the couple’s greyhound, Mayfly, when his nose touched that of his pug, Lolita. Then, he slammed the greyhound’s head against a fence and screamed, “The dog should be put down!”
Uh, we highly doubt that version!
“I said, ‘Your dog should be put on a leash.’ He kept on going and going, ranting and raving. He was being verbally abusive,” claims Maria. “And he smacked the dog in the head. The dog’s head went into the fence. I was shaking. The dog yelped. I said, ‘Keep your hands off my dog! Why did you hit my dog?’ He didn’t say a word.”
The Varekas’ filed a report with the NYPD, but no citations were given.
According to Butler’s manager, Alan Siegel: “What happened was, Gerry was walking his dog, Lolita, who is this little, small pug, a teeny thing. You can hold her in one arm, she’s that small. Then, suddenly, this greyhound, this huge, menacing dog, bites Lolita.”
After Maria and Gerard had a few words, Mayfly took another bite out of Lolita!
Butler spent the next four hours at an Upper East Side animal hospital and even gave $3,000 to another family he just met to cover their vet bills.
So sweet! We hope that’s true!
Proof of a the lil’ pug’s injuries should clear this dispute right up!
Get well, Lolita!
