As we mentioned earlier, David Letterman made a very public and personal statement when he told his audience that he was being blackmailed by some douchebag.
For $2 million!
Turns out Letterman’s slept with many women on his staff. And when Robert “Joe” Halderman, a producer for CBS, found out, he threatened to write a screenplay and book about the embarrassing situation. Unless Letterman paid up.
So Letterman and his attorneys contacted the proper authorities and set up a sting with a fake $2 million check and caught the douche. Letterman might be an adulterer, but it’s good to see he doesn’t give in to a-hole threats.
And now, old court documents show Halderman had paid a pretty large amount in child and spousal support monthly to his ex-wife, Patty Montent since 2004.
Joe was required to pay $6,800 monthly for child and spousal support for three years. The amount was later reduced to $5,966 back in 2007.
Joe and his ex sold their house and divided the proceeds. They also split their debt equally and Joe was required to pay for the unreimbursed medical bills for his two children. Oh and he also had to maintain life insurance.
But we guess with all the bills that had added up, Joe needed some extra cash for his bank account?
Shady, shady.
