Portuguese is an Iberian form of Latin with some (don't ask me why) Slavic elements. i've been out with my mother speaking in Portuguese and people have thought we were speaking Russian. I think it sounds a little better than Russian but whateva. Spanish from Spain also has some slavic elements but not to the same extent. Portuguese has a lot of sh and zh sounds as does Gallego another Iberian language spoken i Galicia just north of Portugal..
