Balloon Boy's Dad Has A Criminal Record!!!

Richard Heene, better known as the father of the the infamous Balloon Boy, has reason to hang his head this morning as it has been uncovered that he was arrested and sentenced to jail in April 1997.
Heene pled no contest to charges of vandalism, vehicle tampering, and disturbing the peace and was sentenced 30 days in jail, 2 years probation and ordered to pay restitution of $100. Somehow, Heene managed to only have to serve 4 days behind bars before completing his sentence under house arrest.
Wow!
This family just gets crazier and crazier!

Mainly - that balloon could have come down in the middle of traffic and killed someone. The irresponsibility - way beyond the basic self-centeredness, is what gets me.

Shut down Denver International, helicopters in the sky, etc., etc. Even without the boy inside, this could have ended up much worse.

Not much info on her background, and I'm curious. I'm also curious, given reports of domestic violence, if the boys are safe. To me, she has that zoned-out, "I've quit trying" look and will not protect the boys.

Re: LULU~* – I've made this point before, but bears worth again. I hope he does NOT go to jail. He's already wasted hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars. Why stick him in there (taking the place of a child molester or murderer since the prisons here are so badly crowded now) to drain more? Rule him guilty and lifetime restitution. That way, all the money he makes is subject to being taken instead of sucking down more tax dollars.

I don't condone what this dad did if it was indeed intentional which we don't know for sure. If he did do this awful prank then he should be punished to the extent of the law ( him and his wife ). As far as him having a record there are a lot of people with a record from their past. This is something he could have done as a teenager or young adult we all make mistakes and do stupid things that we wouldn't do as adults now. I don't think they will be looking for attention anymore after this. Him and his wife are probably more concerned at this point about not loosing their children at least I would be!!
