Say hello to the newest member of our family!!!
We just named him Teddy and he's our little teddy bear.
Actually, he's a mini Goldendoodle and we are madly in love!
We got him on Monday and he's almost eight weeks old.
Teddy is the little brother to our adorable Maltese, Coquito, who is getting older now (he's 12 ).
We had no idea what kind of doggy we wanted, but we knew we wanted to add one to our family and our mom's birthday was the perfect occasion to welcome him to the clan.
How'd we stumble upon a Goldendoodle?
We typed in "small" "cute" and "smart" into Google and they popped up!
Teddy will grow up to be about 20 lbs and even more adorable than he already is.
We got him at Southern Cal Kennels, Grade A mini Goldendoodle breeders.
We are just so in love.
Our little Teddy bear!

Jeesh, when will it ever end? Five or ten years ago so called "animal activists" pushed the idea that pet stores support puppy mills and therefor add problematic dogs/cats to the world. We were told no one should buy from them because of this, so millions of people responsibly started going to reputable breeders to ensure they were getting well bred, mentally stable pets for their families. Now the so called "animal activists" are telling us reputable breeders are the scum of the earth and we shouldn't buy from them. Instead we should go to shelters and buy the same mentally unstable dogs they warned us about via puppy mills. JUST WHAT IS ENOUGH FOR YOU PEOPLE???

A goldendoodle is a mutt and only stupid idiots pay hundreds (or thousands) of dollars for a mutt puppy. There are tons of great dogs waiting for homes in shelters. You should have gotten one of those. Douche.

He is cute, for sure. But really, there are hundreds of cute puppies in shelters that are dying because people like you don't check there first. Also, you said that he is almost eight weeks old? The absolute EARLIEST a puppy should leave its mother is eight weeks. The kennel from which you purchased this puppy is irresponsible, and you are, too. I am so disappointed…because of your support for PETA I always assumed you were an animal lover.
However, real animal lovers know that real animal lovers don't support the dog breeding industry and that real animal lovers save animals that are about to be euthanised over "buying" a dog from a backyard breeder.
Due to your purchase, 1 dog in a pound will die that otherwise would have had a home.
But what is much worse, is that due to your advertising the fact you support backyard breeders, your actions will probably result in even more dogs buying in pounds as many of your loyal followers that may have rescued one of those dogs will now feel they need to buy a bred dog like you did.

Oh my gosh he is SO adorable! I have a standard size goldendoodle (…and yes I got him from a breeder) and he's the best dog ever…Incredibly easy to train too! Have fun with your new addition!

I think it is extremely irresponsible for someone who is a public persona to buy a dog from a breeder and not adopt from the humane society or another dog shelter. Thousands of dogs live in cramped cages and are then needlessly killed because people support breeders and pet stores, therefore ALLOWING these animals to die. Here's an analogy: would you sponsor a starving African dying from AIDS or would you sponsor A little pageant queen aka Jon Benet. Totally superficial and selfish decision.

what is enough? recognizing that animal advocates can not have their opinions lumped into a static collective. all grassroots movements are progressive and dynamic and understand that victories can be best realized by taking steps. the ultimate argument is not petty and it is not complicated, rather, it is intuitive and ethical: animals have a large capacity for pleasure and for pain. therefore, it is ethical to give them the considerations that we give to all sentient beings. animals are not to be used at our disposal. it is not our right to possess them.

Or even adopt a pup from a shelter! Puppy Farmers are all over the place and disguise themselves very well. A Puppy Farmer (or Back Yard Breeder) is someone who indiscriminately breeds dogs for money. As these designer dogs cannot be shown and undergo no health testing, you have unfortunately been sucked into buying a dog that you could buy at a pound for a quarter of the price you have paid.
For anybody who says that you cannot find a specific breed at a shelter, visit www.petfinder.com This year I rescued an adorable 6 lb. chihuahua and a very handsome, perfectly trained black lab. Both purebred! And both of these pleasant pooches were about to be euthanized due to over-crowding. Go to www.petfinder.com or google the breed you want with the word "rescue" and TONS of results will come up. The dog at the shelter was once somebody's pet too. They are not some subdivision of animals… Just dogs who had a rough go of things and need a break. Every breed has a rescue group run by dedicated people trying to save lives. Don't breed, don't buy… ADOPT! And Perez, for the record: I have come to this website every day for a very long time. I loved your work and it brightened my day to read your thoughts on Hollywood. And, for this reason, I a incredibly sad that I will not be able to visit your website any longer. I cannot allow my presence on your website make you believe that your fanbase is content with you actions. I only support those who show a strength in character… Something you clearly lack. AND finally, that is one huge 8 wk. old puppy. That little guy is going to be at least 50 lbs. at full size. You got douped. He's the size of a golden retriever at that same age.
I have a mini goldendoodle who looked just like Teddy when I got him. The breeder told me he'd be between 20 and 30 pounds. He's 6 months old and he's already more than 35 pounds!
i love you & all, but come on. why didn't you go to the humane society and rescue a dog. for every dog sold by a breeder, something like 5000 dogs are put down at the pound. shame on you. i can't be mad, teddy's cute! it's now your turn to do the right thing and get him a buddy at the pound. they have cute, little, and smart there too. i promise.
Please do not think that I am purely having a go at you. I just hope that you may educate yourself and the next time you go out looking for a new family pet, go down to the local shelter or contact a registered (with the AKC) breeder. AKC Registered Breeders (the Ethical ones) will only breed when they want something from the litter, not just to make money. Most ethical AKC Registered breeders operate because of the love of their dogs and mostly at a loss. Puppy Farmers and Back Yard Breeders are the ones breeding every season, breeding for profit and creating more problems with unwanted animals. Along with animals being sold as impulse buys in pet shops…
Good luck with your puppy, and remember it has golden retriever in it, and there are no guarantees that it won’t be big, he may get to 20-30kgs!!!!! Please enroll in a dog obedience class or puppy school, and continue with training it to avoid any problems should the puppy get to be this large.

#2. Whoever said that goldendoodles or labradoodles are the only breed for people with allergies… you're wrong. Actually there is a chance that they wont have the poodle type skin/coat and you could end up being allergic.
#3. I bet you could find TONS of goldendoodles or mini goldendoodles in shelters or rescues. (oh and I hate using that name. its a fucking mutt, dude)
#4. That is WAY too much money to spend on one puppy. You could save so many dogs by donating that money to a shelter instead.

I've never posted to PH before, but cannot sit by while someone promotes buying dogs from a breeder. I volunteer with a rescue group in San Diego and know firsthand all of the lovely dogs that get put down daily because people choose to buy dogs from breeders instead. I'm really, really disappointed. Please don't give free advertising to breeders.

There is nothing wrong with people wanting to buy a dog from a reputable breeder for a specific breed. In fact, a legislature should be put in place where it is illegal & heavy fines inforced to have your dog bred unless you're registered and certified. This way you wouldn't have Tom, Dick and fucknuts who can't afford to spay & neuter having litters of puppies and selling them in daily classifieds.
Most people who go to breeders and pay more than $1000 for a pup, do it because they care about temperment and health history of the dog and would not contribute to the unwanted pet population, they would live their lives out with their owner.
Professional breeders of dogs are not the issue with unwanted pets. It's ignorance and lack of $$ to take care of these dogs that is the problem and will continue to be the problem.
Solution: Only a certain amount of breeders for each breed are allowed in each Province, State. You want a pet? You go to a, b, c, d ….. y, z. You are forced to sign a contract to fix your pet within 6 months and if you do not report within a certain time period. Fine & pet is taken away.
It would take generations but it would work.
