Madonna Wanted To Make Precious

It’s one of the most talked about movies of the year and, no doubt, everyone is wondering how Precious didn’t make it to the screen sooner.
Well, it would have, if Madonna had had her way!
Yes, Madonna was eager to make author Sapphire’s novel Push, which was renamed Precious, into a major motion picture. And she wasn’t alone, the author recalls:

“There was this really earnest college student who wanted to do his first film. Then Madonna wanted to produce it. I was like, ‘Madonna? Idon’t think this is her film.’ Then I remember this one producer told me that he had found Precious – And it was going to be Brandy. Excuse me? I literally almost hung up on him.”

A diss for Madonna AND Brandy? We’ll admit, the shut down for Brandy is well deserved (this isn’t a Lifetime movie afterall), but it would have been interesting to see where Madonna would have taken the film.
But then again, Oprah seems the most logical choice. We think she made the might decision in waiting.
