Glambert Responds To Out Controversy!

Filed under: Gay Gay Gay > Twitter > Adam Lambert

out_dec-jan__opt11.jpg

After receiving open letters from Out magazine's editor-in-chief, Aaron Hicklin, and reporter Shana Krochmal about his "too gay"-fearing management, Adam Lambert took to his Twitter to address the subject.

Well, kinda!

He tweets:

"Dear Aaron, it's def not that deep. Chill! Guess ya gotta get attention for the magazine. U too are at the mercy of the marketing machine.

Until we have a meaningful conversation, perhaps you should refrain from projecting your publications' agenda onto my career.

Fair enough but, what about your management?! It seems that they have some questions to answer!!!

    Where's Rosie?

  2. 2

Does anyone use a fucking telephone anymore?

  3. 3

His publications "AGENDA"? Wow, a line taken right out of Carrie Prejean's mouth. I was going to get this guys CD, but I'm really having second thoughts. I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt about the OUT thing but not after that.

  4. 4

that really seems like a lame response. I don't even think it is worth it considering his first single is tanking on the charts so why play the main stream media game? I do really want to hear the work he did with RedOne though, I have a feeling those songs will be great.

  5. 5

that was lame. i won't be supporting lambert anymore

  6. 6

I think that was a perfectly excellent response to all the hoopla being made here. It's his right to discuss or not discuss the subject, not the magazines!

  7. 7

Lambert for the win. He nails it every time. The guy is a class act with his head on his shoulders and rightfully held high. Love and support him 100%.

  8. 8

I agree with Adam! It's like the editor of OUT Magazine lives in a gay microcosm. Everything doesn't have to be about being gay! Can't we all just be people? Having said that, Adam's album cover looks uber-gay and the stills from his video shoot also have a "no holds barred" look to them. So chill, Aaron Hicklin, and be proud of Adam for coming out and being successful.

  9. 9

Oh who gives a crap. Lamblat will be over and dead by the end of next year. He's not all that special or talented. Just cuz he's gay doesn't mean a damn thing nowadays. Over him and this story!

  10. 10

I love him! Good of him to talk about this!

RT @shananaomi: @adamlambert touché. thanks for your candor & for boldly being your bad-ass self. (& for this amazing album. well done.)

  12. 12

I really couldn't care less about Lambert, or American Idol, or anything else related to this. But I must say, kudos to Adam for an extremely well said reply. Good on ya' mate!

  13. 13

****Fair enough but, what about your management?! It seems that they have some questions to answer!!!*****

Why don't you post the link Adam linked to then? It addresses the management. The person who wrote the open letter to the editor covered everything. It was an amazing letter.

  14. 14

Adam doesn't owe anybody anything! His fans love and support him 110%. He has said many times that he does not want to be a poster-boy for any causes. All he wants to do is sing and entertain. The press could just shut up about this kind of stuff that has nothing to do with his singing. Just let him do his thing!

  15. 15

if this is his genuine response, then Adam Lambert just lost me.

  16. 16

Why can't Glambert just sing without all these people pushing and pulling him in different directions? He's a singer not a politician. Why does all this weight have to be on his shoulders? And if his management is so concerned about him appearing to be "too gay" then why did they let him go with that album cover? Come on.

  17. 17

"perhaps you should refrain from projecting your publications' agenda" Wow! Seriously? It sounds like a quote from Fox news. And sorry Adam but when a publicist asks a gay magazine interviewing a gay celebrity to make the interview not too gay it is a big issue. Out magazine should of yanked him off the cover he's an embarrassment.

  18. 18

wow, thats like the most "hetero" sentence he's ever gone on record saying.

  19. 19

Oh God, I can see the signs…it's happening again. Just like all the Clay Aiken fans used to scour the internet for any mention of their hero, and then they would either go on the attack or overly praise Clay….well I can see that this is happening with Adam Lambert now, an entire cult built on the victim mythology that everybody is picking on their hero. Duck and Cover everybody!

  20. 20

way to go adam, if he leaves 19 ill support him cause its not him thats upsetting its 19 and this "we need to keep adam contained and safe for america" thing
as if homosexuals are a dangerous disease

  21. 21

Re: ashley4225 – LOL you weren't a suppoter to begin with ashley ICU.

  22. 22

Uh his career is their agenda. Adam Lambert is not trying to be a singer he is trying to be a gay singer. Huge difference.

  23. 23

Perez it's none of your fucking business how Adam deals with his management. Leave him alone you douche you are just like Out magazine with the agenda of projecting their political gay agenda issues onto Adam. Fuck you, fuck off and leave Adam alone!

  24. 24

i'll be scratching that cd off everyone's christmas list

  25. 25

MARIO YOU ARE A COWARDLY A…S…S…H…O….L…E FOR NOT POSTING THE FULL RESPONSE. POST THE LETTER TO THE EDITOR. Out magazine should be ashamed of themselves. The letter was INCREDIBLE and VERY well said.

  26. 26

    YOU GO ADAM!
Fuck him. He doesn't deserve someone like you to be on his stupid magazine!

  27. 27

Ohhh! Adam's pissed now. He'll need to vent a little of that anger. Twinks!! Backs against the wall. No one is safe!

  28. 28

    Re: bad_romance
Fuck off. You obviously haven't read Out Magazine. It has no agenda, other than just being honest and proud about being gay. The whole way that Lambert's management handled the interview etc, is a shame. Adam Lambert's response is a big disappointment.

  29. 29

WHAT A SURPISE PEREZ ONLY CHOOSES TO POST HALF OF THE RESPONSE! POST THE OPEN LETTER ADAM LINKED TO ADDRESSED TO THE EDITOR YOU IDIOT. It made me f-n cry halfway. Adam is so, so amazing. This guy constantly rises and rises above the haters no matter what they throw at him. And they've thrown EVERYything. He just RISES like he's been doing ALL his life. Lost ALL respect for Out magazine.

  30. 30

    I. LOVE. HIM.

  31. 31

it just dawned on me that Cyndi Lauper is gay …. duh! just call me clueless

  32. 32

    Re: ladynTO
    I don't think she's gay, she's a gay-rights activist.

  33. 33

Wow, Lambert doesn't even get as many defenders as Kate Gosslin…..not looking so good.

  34. 34

    ….

  35. 35

Adam and his management don't owe ANYONE and explanation, Perez. Why? Just because he is gay, he has to be presented and marketed that way or there is explaining to do? What?

  36. 36

ew, just because hes gay doesnt mean we give him a break for being a douche perez.

  37. 37

Why the need for labels? Let Adam be Adam.

  38. 38

lame. He doesnt know what to say.

  39. J7 says – reply to this

    39

totally over adam. hes as overposed and annoying now as GaGa

  40. 40

PLEASE know all gay people are not as stupid as Lambert! EACH DAY closer to his CD release date, he has fucked himself by talking shit about the powerful. He is not "rebellious"– he is fucking STUPID and extremely uninformed. He will lose, lose, lose. Hope you all enjoy his one CD. There will not be a second. What an idiot. I support OUT magazine, they had every right to be appalled. And Adam…be good to those fat 12 year old girls. They're all you have left, and you haven't even got started….

  41. 41

Wow….at first I thought it must've been his management that made such a stupid, ridiculous request….I mean, come on. Don't make him come off as "too gay?" Are you serious? Now I see that he's in on the scheme….and in the process has lost any inkling of respect I held for him. What happened to being proud of your sexuality, Adam? What happened to asking people to accept you for what you are, which is a gay man? Your hypocritical behavior has lost a fan forevermore…

  42. 42

We all know it was a publicity stunt for OUT magazine..
    GO ADAM!!

  43. 43

Oh, god - all this stuff is ridiculous.

LISTEN TO THE CD - it's GREAT, beautiful, fun, fearsome, haunting, and sexy! Adam is doing all he needs to do for "the cause" by FIRST being a fucking freaking phenonmenal pop star. He will be the first openly-gay-from-the-get-go international pop star AND sex symbol. THAT'S his contribution and it is, incidentally, progress, but it's his journey, his dream, and it's about the MUSIC.

  44. 44

god what a retard. i can't wait till he's next weeks news.

  45. 45

Go Adam. Save some anger for the rock songs I hope to hear from you

  46. 46

This asshole is making enemies left and right, not good, not good

  47. 47

How can anyone look at his album cover and say, with a straight face, that he is not allowed to be gay enough?

  48. J.Ann says – reply to this

    48

Classy. Lambert always knows how to respond. ;)

  49. 49

Just leave that beautiful man alone! All he wants to do is sing. Good luck Adam!

  50. 50

JOBRIATH WOULD HAVE DONE IT BETTER….

  51. 51

I realize that Adam Lambert is not who I thought he was. I'm not a fan anymore. He's just plain wierd and a douche. (I did like his leaked songs though) I guess his "agenda" is to milk the old women who think he can do no wrong.

  52. 52

Having said that, Adam's album cover looks uber-gay
    Re: PalmSprings

In defense of Mr. Lambert…his cover is no worse nor anymore controversial as was the 80's glam band Poison's album cover for "Look What The Cat Dragged In". That album cover raised alot of hackles; been there done that.

  53. 53

If Out had such a laundry list of things they didn't like about the was Adam's career was being run, why did they want him on the cover so badly? And why are people coming down on Adam and calling him a douche and worse, simply for telling this misogynistic ass-wipe to stay out of his business affairs?

  54. 54

Mr. Lambert is correct, the gay agenda has already tanked his career. If the focus was more on his music and less on his "lifestyle" he might would do better.

  55. 55

And sorry Adam but when a publicist asks a gay magazine interviewing a gay celebrity to make the interview not too gay it is a big issue.
    Re: jaketokyo

This is so not fair to Mr. Lambert. He should be Adam Lambert first and not a "gay celebrity". There is too much pressure being put on this man. He's being used and forced to push an agenda and it's hurting him and his marketability. Mr. Lambert was warned about this by Gene Simmons and he rejected what Mr. Simmons, a dirtbag but a business savvy dirtbag, had to say. Gene Simmons wasn't just trying to be an asshole, for once, he really was trying to give Adam some honest counsel.

  56. 56

Re: Nonbreeder – are u one of those gay guys that calls straight people breeders? i hate that shit. what are u? 12?

  57. 57

first he disses gene simons and now this guy?! chill adam your album hasn't even come out yet. he' full of himself. and btw gene simons gave great advice, too bad he didn't take it.

  58. 58

    GOOOOO ADAM!!!! HE ROCKS!

  59. 59

Re: ladynTO – On that cover, cindy isn't gay.she is gay friendly supporter, adam isn't gay neither, he just a staight guy who happens to like boy and kiss woman sometimes.basically all of those people on cover are entertianer.

  60. 60

good. I'm glad adam addressed this and didn't make a big deal about Out's douchebaggery.
if his management has questions to answer why not ask them and leave adam alone. I seriously doubt a new artist under an Idol contract has the authority of firing 19 management.
and jesus give him a break. he's not an established worldly musician yet guys. I don't see other well known gay aritists like elton john leading/talking about gay politics or movement. can we allow adam to maybe tackle gay politics *after* his first cd does well? he's just trying to do the best he can in the situation that he's in.
    btw

  61. 61

this is SUCH a unique idea!

  62. 62

odd bit of irony here since i cancelled my subscription to 'out' years ago because the mag was full of nothing but str8 people who either played a gay character or just 'liked' gay folks..ugh.
adam, whether being directed by his handlers or not, has given a series of interviews broadly hinting at his not really being gay..the latest in which he relates having gone down on a woman. i guess this helps him sell cds to teen girls, but it does not, in my view, make him any sort of gay hero.

  63. 63

I dont really get why his sexual preferences should overshadow his music?!? His job is not being gay, its entertaining people with music.

  64. 64

"perhaps you should refrain from projecting your publications' agenda onto my career." ? What the hell? Dude you barely even HAVE a career yet, you better watch it. Don't get too cocky, Gaybert.

  65. 65

This is the first time I have seen Adam Lambert wimp out!!

    Surprise! Surprise!!

    What's this all about????

  66. 66

OUT and ADAM should've backed out of the whole thing, and gone their separate ways.
    -
but i do like Adam's response.

  67. 67

question…do any of you ask your doctor, lawyer, teacher, etc of they're GAY?
    -
so why does it matter because he sings?

  68. 68

LOL! Out magazine does not "need to get attention." The mag is successful and has been for years.

  69. 69

Heard songs off of his album. Horrible. There's nothing "rock" or "glam" about them. Just over-produced power ballads and tunes that sound like something Brit Brit would record. Yawn.

  70. 70

Re: G0 Ask Alice – HAHA I WAS JUST THINKING THE SAME THING. WHAT HAPPENED TO PEOPLE MEETING FACE-TO-FACE AND DISCUSSING THIS? OR ATLEAST USE THE TELEPHONE IF YOU DON'T HAVE TIME TO MEET UP.

  71. 71

You're the one who tried to out him in the first place aren't you Mario you disgusting sad man. I've never heard so much shit in all my life. Who the hell are any of you to tell him he should be proud of his sexuality. I'm hetro and you don't see me running round shouting how proud I am of it. We finally have someone with the talent the music industry hasn't had for a long time and you're all already trying to knock it down, shame on you! It's not for any of you to say who he should aim his career towards.
