At Least She's Not Lying

One of our favorite dykons, Queen Latifah is on the cover of People magazine this week, and it's quite telling when she's asked to talk about her private life. And by "private life" we mean who she's fucking.
While she talked openly about her private life, when asked if she was currently in a relationship, the Queen simply answered with a "no comment."
Uh huh.
Wonder what her long-term partner, Jeannette Jenkins (pictured above), thinks about that?
Latifah goes on to say, "My private life is my private life. Whomever I might be with, I don't feel the need to share it. I don't think I ever will."
Baby steps.
Kudos to the Queen for not saying that she isn't gay.
Hopefully one day she will feel comfortable enough to proclaim it publicly!

Everyone knows the truth - yes, even Dana (a.k.a., Queen Latifah). I went to high school with Dana in NJ. She is a very nice lady and incredibly talented. She made a name for herself even in high school. I am always a huge fan of Dana's and I think everyone should respect her desire for privacy in her personal life. Let's be honest: this is 2007 and who cares? No one! She could come-out tomorrow and no one would blink an eye. She desires her privacy, so let's respect her wishes. Everybody has different standards on what is acceptable. Who are you to impose your standards on people? The decision to come out is a personal choice, and a wonderful experience because it is a huge step toward self-growth. By doing this you are cheating them from that experience.
You may think that you are changing society if everyone knew how many gays and lesbians are really out there, and the great diversity of cultures, races and socioeconomic classes you occupy. But homophobia is alive and well, and you can be jeapordizing someone's job, their safety, and their reputation. Some have even lost their families and children.
I personally don't understand why there is a need to advertise your sexuality. nor do I understand the people that hate those for traveling a different road.
