Re: Emily – Emily…well…I live in Toronto, a good many asians speak fluent english and have assimilated quite well into society, but when Sandra Oh's parents were interviewed on TV, the mother couldn't form complete sentances, and the father didn't want to speak because his english "was not so good". I don't believe in ESL classes of ANY sort…it should be EFL, English as First Language…either integrate fully or go back to country of origin. In Toronto where I live, MANY asian stores refuse to give receipts on purchases from their family run stores (conveneience/etc) because they don't want to PAY GOVERNMENT TAXES…there are many many many situations where immigrants and refugees are here destroying the Canadian Government & Social systems…BUH-BYE!

It's funny you should mention that, because my dad talks constantly of FOBs who are ripping off the Canadian people. We call them mainlanders (from mainland China). While I agree with you in that respect, that they are exploiting this country, you have to be able to see it from their side. People who come from third world and developing countries can have a rather ruthless attitude because where they're from, it's survival of the fittest. Knock others down, take advantage of them before they can take advantage of you.
And btw, believe me, Canadians of Chinese descent, whose family have been in Canada for generations as Pam or whoever said, they DO speak English perfectly. How could they NOT. My great-grandfather came to Canada in 1903. MY biggest problem would be my LOSS of the CHINESE language. The people you're railing against are FOBs. I think what is sexy is to be an individual's point of view, and for Maxim to come up with a list like this is rather shitty because it's 1) hurtful 2) completely untrue when there are hell lot more unsexy women out there and there always will be. All the women in the list (okay maybe besides Amy Winehouse) have built up great careers for themselves. If Madonna/Britney weren't even slightly sexy, they wouldn't have been able to hold that singing career for such a long time. And leave Britney alone, she's going through hard times with her two kids and without a husband.
