Do you really want to know?

Look, we're going to be honest with you. There is a crazy, shocking twist at the end of Robert Pattinson's movie Remember Me. We know it, we're going to tell it to you, but if you are really looking to enjoy this movie, we recommend not reading any further. We think it is worth the surprise.

So STOP READING right now, if you don't want to know the ending to this movie.

Don't say we didn't warn you.

Okay, here's the deal:

Though viewers are led to believe that the movie is set in the present day, it's actually set in 2001. In the final moments of the film, Robert Pattinson's character has a fight with his girlfriend, played by Emilie de Ravin. He leaves to go to his father's office and when he arrives, he rides the elevator up to the 92nd-floor. As he waits for his father, he looks out the window and helpleslly watches American Airlines Flight 11 hit the building and dies in what is now known as 9/11.

Movie over.

Now that's what we call a twist! We might even see this thing now, just for the ending!

    woah!

  2. 102

WOW!!!! That is awful, but I want to see it.

  3. 103

i wish i never read this…that's such a good ending now it's ruined for me

  4. 104

I wish someone would drive a plane into Mario's fat head. I'd pay to see something like that.

    105

i really want to see it now. motto of the story life is short spend it with those you love most.

  6. 106

Well I was going to see that movie, but not anymore. I HAD to read it because I can't take that kind of tease. And now I really don't want to see it…EVER. I hate movies that end like that. I hate unhappy endings. I want to be happy when I leave the theater not tear-soaked and depressed. Well at least I saved $10. Thanks for that.

Re: Zicdeh – This is my first time reading actual comments on this website because I wanted too see people's reactions to the ending. First off, zicdeh, stop criticizing what other people say, it's their own opinion, you as well are entitled to yours that does not make remark towards other users. We may think he is an ass right now because he gave away an ending to a movie, but come on, it's human nature to give in to temptation, you can't blame someone for reading on. regardless of that, your harsh and unnecessary comments aren't needed. Perezhilton.com is a place to find out the latest celebrity gossip, not for people to fight and attack each other's comments. Perez, if you're reading this, I recommend monitoring the comments posted, no one needs another trashy website where people get in comment fights, this site is better than that and deserves to last longer than the timespan it will get if arguments keep occurring.

  8. 108

    SOO I SAW THIS MOVIE

and this movie was great, and the end made my friend cry and me tear.

great twist, they sort of hint to it but like i didn't catch it.

    GREAT MOVIE :)

Re: IloveNY17 – Sorry for consecutive posts but I have to disagree with this comment and might be a hypocrite considering what I said in my last comment. I myself live in the city, I still plan to see this movie even considering the ending. I am with my friend who's father died in 9/11 she still plans to see the movie with her mother (aka the wife of the man who died). Yes, it is a controversial ending that may get some bad publicity but I think you are taking it a step to far and if you really cared or were really effected you'd be exact about the dates, it's been 9 years. A sub-concsious sign of caring is remembering dates correctly.

  10. 110

although I'm going to admit, this seems pretty exploitative of the 9/11 tragedy, plus it just seems like lazy screenwriting.

"He gets killed…because…A PLANE, yeah, that's it, A plane crashes into the building. Just like during 9/11! Genius! Let's go get a burger."

Also, people, Mr. Perez gave you about 3 or 4 spoiler warnings, so stop bitching and crying because you read the ending. Don't be such dense dumbasses and deal with it.

  11. 111

It kinda looked boring (I LOVE Rob Pattinson though) but now I actually want to see it. Though the ending is sad its actually a great twist and seems interesting and I would have never guessed it was set in 2001.

  12. 112

    But he can't die.. he's a vampire!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  13. 113

    that's incredibly tacky.

  14. 114

sad ending,, i had no interest in watching this movie but now it actually sounds pretty good.

  15. 115

Re: justtdoitx3 – Not to spoil your fun but read more carefully, "don't think that this wont be happening a lot more now that it is indeed almost 10 years since this has happened" I rounded up, excuse me. This doesn't mean I sub-consciously don't care. And I am not saying don't see it or people who are affected won't see it. But she is seeing it knowing the ending, isn't she? For the people who would go into this movie not knowing, that is where this movie is wrong. That was my whole argument…..

  16. 116

    This site now = FAIL.

  17. 117

Tweens everywhere are going to be heartbroken

  18. 118

Never planned on seeing it until now. Not an RP fan. Anyway… now that I know the ending, I'll be looking for clues throughout the movie that hint at the year and what is to come. Any mention of the president? Any NYC skyline shots of downtown?

  19. 119

    Re: pretty_lie
How is he an ass, there was plenty was warning.
You're the one who read it.

  20. 120

u fucking IDIOTS! if u ddnt want to know then u shouldnt have read it FOOLS! neways the 9/11 thing is unnecessary in an advertised romantic movie. Dont come with the romantic shit then throw that depression crap in our faces.

i wasnt planning on watching it neways so this ddnt bother me, hate robert's acting.

  21. 121

Re: LadyGagaQueenOfMusic – ur a weirdo

  22. 122

You're an asshole. I really wanted to see this and you ruined it. Fuck you.

  23. 123

i m going to cry sooooo much mostly b\c i m going 2 be like robert pattinson noooooo don't die i love u

  24. 124

I'm kinda glad that the ending leaked..there are a lot of people who lost someone in the towers. That would be horrible if one of them went to see a romantic movie and saw that ending without realizing it was part of the movie. Atleast now if people are still really sensitve about 9/11, they can choose to stay home.

  25. 125

really? omg, i want to see it!

  26. 126

Perez why are you such a damn liar that is not how it ends…..He does not die that way he was actually in a freak accident where yes he fought with his love of his love and she ended and left him at his house. He drinks himself to kingdom come then as he is walking towards the living room his cat gets in his way so he kicks out the way but he missed so he actually falls back and knocks his head to a hemerage on the edge of the fireplace. And that is how he dies!

  27. 127

People need to freaking relax! It's just a movie and I'm not a big fan of Perez and hell must be freezing over because I don't ever defend him but their was a warning. And since I never planned on seeing the movie I read it, quite sad! Definitely an unexpected ending.

  28. 128

You just saved me some money. I would hate to sit almost 2 hours soaked in characters just to have him die. LAME.

  29. 129

you people have your own minds! if you dont want to know then dont look!! mmkay??

  30. 130

Why are people moaning about Perez discussing the ending? He made it as clear as possible that there was a spoiler and to stop reading if you didn't want to know. As for that ending, I said earlier it really bothered me, and the more I sit with it the more upsetting it gets…. I live in NYC my whole life. Talk to people that live here about what they think of Rudy Guiliani…. good luck finding someone that won't tell you he's a jerk that constantly attempts to exploit 9/11 every time he decides to run for another office that no one wants him for! I'm just saying that in my neck of the woods this is not an ending that will sit well with people, not on this type of film. If it was a film where the subject matter was terrorism or something related, I would feel quite differently. But this just sounds like appalling lowlife exploitation. I'm willing to bet that unless what Perez has said is untrue, this film disappears very, very quickly. About a year ago there was an incident where the Air Force was giving a demonstration over NYC, and they flew very low. The entire city freaked, the White House had to apologize, it was in the news everywhere. Believe me, the wound is still fresh if you live in NYC.

  31. 131

Holy smokes! I had NO plans of watching the movie, but now i kind of want to. Although, the ending does seem in bad taste.

  32. 132

Re: Zicdeh – thank you lol I say this all the time but hey I love the site so I'm glad they help him stay around

  33. 133

    I have to poop.

  34. 134

I think I want to see it now.

  35. 135

    You really are a prick.

  36. 136

I don't think about 9/11 regularly; I'm also not someone who typically gets upset by references to 9/11.

However, I think this ending is unnecessary and very, very tacky. It's using an American tragedy as a dramatic end to a teenage rom-com. Why can't he just die of cancer (a la "A Walk to Remember") or get hit by a car or something typical like that? Why would filmmakers think it's a good idea to a) force Americans to relive 9/11 and, b) try to profit off of it? (by putting it in their movie, which they want to sell more tix and DVDs of) Tacky. Just tacky… Not that I'd see the movie, anyway.

  37. 137

Already knew it, read the script.

    139

Okay i could care less how well this movie does at the box office, but some other new yorker summed it up best in their comments. I thought i was going to see a romance, not a movie that would end with me reliving those horrible events when my sister was distraught at losing a close friend. I am sad that i know, but also happy because i now know i could not sit through it. I just think it is a shame they never hint something like this, because for us new yorkers it is still raw. If my sister had gone thinking romance, she would have probably collapsed at the end, in a way i am glad i know now because i would have hated to see that play out on the screen. Anyway the movie will do just fine just because rob is in it. Noone will be missing my money. It is probably good people know the ending so that they aren't shocked. But yeah it has runied me ever wanting to see it sadly. And people saying 'cool' ending, i wonder if you would say that if your loved one was there that day.

  40. 140

omg now i really have 2 go see it. when i was reading it I was like ok set on 2001… not a big deal, they have a fight… not a big deal, but then the whole 9/11 thing now that's a twist. But r u sure that's the real ending?

  41. 141

That sounds like a horrible ending. Ha

  42. 142

You forgot the part where he has a brother who died in World Trade Center attacks, they make you assume that HE died in 9/11. But he really died in first WTC attacks, so it is really a surprise twist when he dies in 9/11

  43. 143

For those of you complaining about the ending of the film being posted… You did choose to read the rest of the posting after it clearly states to "STOP READING" if you don't want to know how the films ends. What morons!

  44. 144

Re: justtdoitx3 – You're out of line telling someone whether they care or not. Who are you to judge? You obviously care yourself, but people aren't all the same, you can't generalize them by "sub-concious signs"…some people can't even remember their best friends birthday after several years. Does that make them a worse person? No. Does it mean they don't care about the person just as much? No.
Alluding to the idea that someone who has obviously been deeply affected by this tragedy might not "care enough" is cruel and ignorant. People respond in different ways, and maybe a reason they did not say the EXACT CORRECT number of years was because some people don't feel as comfortable confronting and reliving grief in the way that your friend does. It's amazing that your friend has the strength to proceed with that, but don't berate someone else for being offended and hurt by this obviously controversial ending.

  45. 145

holy crap. i didn't really plan on seeing this movie, but after reading this… i totally want to.

  46. 146

    Are you kidding, right?

  47. 147

Sounds like a pretty good ending. Depressing though, but still… unexpected.

  48. yl001 says – reply to this

    148

HATERS! Really? All of you are gonna be pissed at him for that spoiler? He DID warn you not to read it if you didn't want to know the ending.

  49. 149

I don't go to breeder movies so I read the spoiler. Sounds like the movie's producer is trying to put out some kind of dis-info. Lame.

  50. 150

The title "Remeber Me" now has a new melancholic meaning. i cant decide whether i think its a good ending or not, sure its a crazy twist ( for those non morbid people who didnt read the title as foreshadowing death) but will that make viewers depressed as the protagonists love cannot live on. !

  51. 151

oh my god, that is so stupid - read this, after perez warned you and then blame him.
    idiots

  52. 152

It's even sadder knowing his brother had died in the 1993 attacks…oops, they I just ruin that as well?

  53. 153

That film has a sad and depressing ending, mainly because things like that probably did happen on/because of 9/11….

  54. 154

Why spoil the movie like that..that is so unprofessional! I dont know..but i am starting to get a feeling that your head is getting very big….there will come a time…perez..that no one in the business will want to deal with you…

  55. 155

If they do it well, that sounds cool.

  56. 156

Now I GET the title, I have been wondering what it meant. Am I the only one who is going to see the movie because I know the end? I thought it was just a dramatic romance kind of movie so I have been debating about seeing it. But now that I know whats going on, i'm for sure going.

    157

Warning or not it's very bad and lame to post the ending of a new movie. You WILL have some important people pissed at you… are you trying to kill what little career you have Perez??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????//

  58. 158

    So much for a sequel.

  59. 159

WTF PEREZ?? TAKE THIS DOWN NOW! I can´t believe you just did that… I used to like you. But HELL NO that was low, even for you!!

  60. 160

I knew this would be an awesome movie since I saw the trailer. Rob was really focused and emotional in this film and there was a cute chemistry going on between the main characters.
I really hoped them to end up happy, but oh well.. at least that was creative..

  61. 161

    That's a twist.

  62. 162

wow i got goosebumps all over my arm.

  63. 163

If you have any doubt about this movie, you should sheck out the awesome reviews for this movie! Critics have been calling it one of the best movies of the year. And Pattinson is really great in it. Chris Cooper, Pierce Brosnan and Emelie De Raven is also in it!

Still fucking low of Perez to post the ending…

  64. 164

Cool ! I`m SO going to see it now (:

  65. 165

that's so sad, but a really original end!! altdough i'm team jacob, i just can't wait to see this movie!!

  66. 166

I really couldn't care less about this movie but you could at least have some decency and post the spoiler after a jump, you moron.

  67. 167

Are you retarded? WHY would you spoil a film plot like that? Obviously people can't resist reading it. You could at least have had the decency to just post a link that takes you to the spoiler, not just shove it on your whole page … dickhead.

  68. 168

I actually have a whole new respect for this piece of shit movie ,which I really thought was just another cash-grab , the studios knowing that girls would go see anything with R.P. in it.
And why are some people saying "too soon"?
It was pretty much a decade ago, or damn close to it.

  69. 169

    that turned me on.

  72. 172

That's a sad ending, but I'll see the movie anyway…

  73. 173

good but sad ending, was unexpected though.
but i wasn't planning on going to see it so i read it (:
i would have read it if i wasn't going to see it anyway seeing as i'm verrrry impatient (:

  74. BK76 says – reply to this

    174

I knew the ending, many do… but chose not to broadcast it. I wish your ending would hurry up and happen. Dickhead.

  75. 175

hmm not my type of movie

  76. 176

That sounds like it was a rip off of the TV movie that brought back Debra Winger on Lifetime a few years ago. Can't remember the name right now and too lazy to look it up but the movie was the story of a woman who had cancer and fought death and survived . The last scene of the movie was her driving her kid to school and they panned out to show that she was taking her kid into Columbine High on the day of the shooting! Now that was shocking. BUT here…we are told the ending and it won't be as shocking to me. I won't tell my daughter and she can go see it….but, it is ruined to me!

  77. 177

Do you give away the endings to all movies? You're a grown man, perez, surely you know by now just how fcked up it is to do that. Nobody wants to know the ending of a movie before they watch it. Revealing it is not gossipy. It's just douchey. And people don't usually want to hang around someone whose social skills are so poorly developed that they haven't yet figured out that giving away the surprise twist at the end of a movie is just not cool. Makes me wonder just how unpopular you really are in real life.

  78. 178

Re: VonneyD – Tyler (Rob's character) does.

  79. 179

Re: VonneyD – I mean Tyler's dad works there.

  80. 180

That seems a little insensitive to 9/11 victims to throw in a surprise renactment of the worst moment of many peoples' lives, for entertainment value. I will pass on this one.

  81. 181

omg!!!!!!!! this makes me want to see this movie 100 times more than those commercial things!!!!!!!!

  82. 182

Re: Scottie – You haven't seen enough of him to know whether or not he can act. You're judging him from soapy, almost campy, movies. You shouldn't make a decision based on little to no information. At least give the guy a chance. Early reviews say he really shows his acting skills in this movie.

  83. 183

Re: tkbutler – It IS about 9/11. Don't you think at least one of those thousands of victims had unfinished business like this? Doesn't this put a human face to the tragedy, show the holes left in the lives of those the victims left behind? Think of all the people who were in those buildings. What were their plans for that night? Dinner with a loved one? A game with thier kids? They had real lives that simply got brutally cut off. Just like that. Just like in this movie. That IS about 9/11. This is just one of the many stories that could be told about the lives of the victims.

  84. Imy says – reply to this

    184

Wow. Interesting ending. I might have to see this one!

  85. 185

I am wondering something…i someone sends out this message to the production company of this film, could you be held liable if sales were to drop due to your act. Not that i would like to give you any credit.but you do boast that your site attracts over 300 million hits a month…doesnt that come with some responsibilities to your audience and the trade.. No matter what you might feel about the movie..i have never seen any critic, reviewer or whatever do a thing like that as you did. I really hope someone calls you out on that one..

  86. 186

wtf?? lame you seriously saved me 11 dollars to talk into the amc..i would have been pissed

  87. 187

even knowing the ending, i still want to see it.

  88. 188

We could all just wish that really happened. An RP-free world?…what a beautiful thought.

  89. 189

Honestly? PUT THIS UNDER A CUT. I already planned to see the movie and, for me, knowing the ending doesn't change watching the story unfold. But not everyone is like that and you have possibly wrecked the experience/story for a lot of people. Even scrolling past, words jump out. Spoilers should go under cuts so people can truly decide for themselves.

  90. 190

Re: leaROCKS – are you an amputee? You only got goosebumps on ONE arm? that is strange, I would get the doctor to look into that….

  91. 191

    Re: Zicdeh

amen to that :) love ya perez

  92. 192

i think that's a cheap move. exploiting a real life tragedy so your movie has a shocking twist is the epitome of tacky

  93. 193

    Re: CarrieBradshaw1988
    Get over it, whiney bitch.

  94. 194

Damn It!!!!! I couldn't resist not reading it! grrr! but that's super sad!

  95. 195

I really do not understand why people are mad at first, the fact that several warnings were given and second , people are all upset that a "love story" has a sad ending. Some of the greatest love stories have sad endings and that is what makes them tragic love stories, Romeo and Juliet, Dear John, the Notebook, and a Walk to Remember. How could anyone believe that a film with the title ,REMEMBER ME, would end happy? I am going to see the movie ,I don't know if the writing is great or not ,I am going because it has a great cast. I really hope ,if this is the ending, that they do a tasteful job of it and not just doing it for shock value.

  96. 196

OMG i read that and i got CHILLS im going to have to see that movie now whereas before i wasnt into seeing it at all. it actually sounds good now! *tear*

  97. 197

Woah I don't know how I feel about that. Maybe I will see the movie now. That's really sad.

  98. 198

Oh Em GEE!!! Too fucking sad for me!!

  99. 199

Wow, I was going to see the movie either way but that ending just made it seem a little bit cooler, and sad. And it gives the title a whole new meaning.

  100. 200

why is it every picture of Robert he has some girl hanging off of him and he looking away with a stupid look on his face. Almost like the expression reads, "dumb bitch, get off me!" I dont think there is a person in the world who measures up to Mr. Pattinson…well, in his mind anyway.
