Tameka Foster is talking to Essence magazine and ranting about the public's perception of her.
She says:
"We (black women) don't like ourselves. If I were Hispanic, Usher would have the sexiest wife alive. If I were mixed, he'd have the sexiest wife alive. But he has a black girl, and it's like, 'She's horrible and she's ugly!' "OK, maybe I don't fit the cookie-cutter standard - 25 and a size two - but this is who he loves. There are women getting raped in Darfur, young girls being turned out every single day right here in Atlanta. We have bigger issues to worry about than two people in love with each other".
We're not a black woman, and we don't like her.

Oh my god, can she shut up already. Nobody cares if you're black. I didn't have an opinion about her before, but now I truly hate her, if people ever want there no longer to be a racial issue in the world than shut up about it. Everyone in the world isn't going to like you, there are lots of people in the world that don't like me and oh my GOD I'M WHITE!!!! I think she doesn't like herself.

I've researched just this topic, and while she may not be the best example since she isn't exactly attractive, color has a very big impact on what people consider to be attractive in general and how they rate the attractiveness of an individual. The popular Black women in the US are Beyonce, A-Keys, RhiRhi, and Halle, while they are beautiful, they are promoted as a standard of Black beauty which is unfair to Black women since most are not mixed or lie within their skin tone spectrum. It's so bad that it's unwritten but pretty much known that if you don't look like one of them, you need not bother to show up? How many dark skinned children are on TV? Dark skin girls who are beautiful like Kelly, Michelle, and Gabrielle Union, are not presented to the world as "beautiful," they get honorable mentions for being "cute" or looking nice, but they are not on mainstream advertisements. For Tameka to limit the scope to "black women" hating ourselves I think just shows her limited POV because this is a learned behavior that developed from America's history. If you are part of American culture and therefore American hegemony, you are susceptible to it whether you know it or not.
And for those who believe racism doesn't exist, read a book please, racism is the foundation of this country, literally. For it to be completely eradicated the whole concept of the US of A will have to change. I commented before I got the chance to read everyone else's comments, but there is always more to the story than the outsider knows. Perez can get the dish, but in this case the main dish was to big for our plates. Usher is a young horny man on the road with an older woman who dresses him well, and has his best interest in mind. If the gossip is true and her husband was a cheat; well there may be more to that story too!
