MYST Movie In The Works!!!

Donnie Darko producer Hunt Lowry and Chronicles of Narnia: The Dawn Treader producer Mark Johnson have teamed up with Mysteria Film Group to finally make the long-awaited film adaptation of MYST, the top selling computer adventure game franchise of all time.
Mysteria Film Group acquired the rights to MYST from Cyan Worlds, whose credits include the Myst series, as well as classic childrens’ adventure games for old-school macs including The Manhole, Cosmic Osmo and the Worlds Beyond The Mackerel, and Spelunx & the Caves of Mr. Seudo.

Here’s what the filmmakers had to say about the film:

“Our aim with this project is to stretch the genres it operated within, much like the source material did. It is such an innovative property and by utilizing the novels as our primary resource, we have the opportunity to offer audiences the essence of MYST without being limited only to the famous island of the first game. Our focus has always been on creating an entirely new visual experience driven by engaging characters and an epic narrative.”

Looks like a major theme of the film will be how human influence brought down the civilization of Myst. Sounds great to us!
