It feels like the execs over at Idol have been stringing us along, as we’re just left to speculate who will fill the remaining THREE judges’ seats!

While earlier, it was reported that veteran Idol judge Randy Jackson would be taking up a mentor role, it seems that still has yet to be confirmed!

What we DO know is that Mariah Carey is the only one that’s a done deal and supposedly, there will be four judges this season.

Of course, Ryan Seacrest will be back once again to host and we mentioned earlier that executive producer Nigel Lythgoe will return, as well!

So just when will the BIG announcement be made about the final judging placements?!

Earlier today, our dawg Randy Jackson stepped down from his role as an American Idol judge. This leaves an empty seat at the judges' table — and Keith Urban is rushing to snag it!

As we speak the country crooner is in the "final negotiation stages with producers to take the third judging spot on the show." It's only a matter of hours before it's official!

Here's why Idol producers would be silly not to take him:

As predicted and previously reported, the veteran dawg of American Idol has stepped down from his judge role after ELEVEN seasons!

But don’t worry, dude, dawg, yo! — we’ll still be getting Randy on the show, only in the form of a mentor!

However, not everyone on the Idol set is feelin' it! Some don't think Jackson is "well-suited" enough to be placed in a mentor role!

Though, with only him and Ryan left from the original cast, it seems Randy has got seniority on his side!

And FINALLY, after seasons of reminding everyone how he worked with Mariah Carey, he’ll be working with her again, just in a different capacity!

What inspires Alanis Morissette… aside from horrible break-ups?

Monday night the singer previewed her new album, Havoc and Bright Lights, to few hundred of her closest friends and industry insiders.

After playing all the songs off the album, Alanis treated the crowd to a little Q&A where she dished on her inspirations and her song writing process.

She described writing

Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, Keith Urban…seems like there can’t possibly be room for another new Idol judge, right?

We previously confirmed that Miley Cyrus is out of the running and Nick Jonas is supposedly still in talks to take a seat, but what about Alanis Morissette, who was once rumored to be in talks, as well???

Well Perezcious readers, this news might just be as rough to swallow down as a Jagged Little Pill, but it looks like Mz. Morissette may NOT be gracing the Idol panel afterall!

In a recent interview, Alanis spoke on how reality talent competitions are more about performance and star status and less about singer-songwriters honing their craft!
