Late '90s/early '00s nostalgia just won't die!
It seems like every few years we get rumors that MTV's TRL is coming back…and here we go again!
It's been announced that a version of the show is returning to the network and will be tentatively titled MTV Live. The show will debut on June 12.
MTV president Chris McCarthy said:
"That ability to be live, in culture — not responding to it but driving it — is where we belong."
The new show will be set in the same TRL Times Square studio, which is about twice as big now, and will feature both music and other elements. Sounds exciting! We hope TRL staples Britney Spears and the Backstreet Boys make appearances!
When the show launched in 1998, it basically just featured Carson Daly counting down the most popular videos of the day, but it quickly exploded into an opportunity for celebs to promote themselves and fans to meet them. Peeps like Diddy, *NSYNC, and Jennifer Lopez made regular appearances and performed as well. It was the best of times!
In honor of this new installment, let's take a look back at some of the most memorable moments from the show's ten-year run (below)!
When you're brought on stage and your wildest Backstreet Boys dreams come true!!!!
Sunday night was a BIG evening for country music.
While some of the performances weren't necessarily memorable, others left us completely floored.
So, if you happened to miss last night's award show, be sure to ch-ch-check out OUR favorite performances (below) from the ACM Awards. We promise you won't regret it!
We've been going through a bit of country music crossover withdrawal as of late.
Thankfully, Chris Lane crashed on the scene just in time to hit us with a fix of country pop-fection!
The North Carolina native is heating up the charts with his debut album Girl Problems — and just received his first ACM Awards Nomination for New Male Vocalist of the Year.
The 32-year-old also has a pretty busy summer ahead of him. He's set to serve as the featured supporting artist on Florida Georgia Line and Nelly's Smooth Tour this summer, including the recently announced stadium dates with the Backstreet Boys!
But before he prepares to play in front of stadium-sized crowds with music royalty, the crooner blessed us with a live acoustic performance of his hit song Fix!
Backstreet's procreating… alright!
It looks like AJ McLean's family just got larger than life, because he and wife Rochelle McLean just welcomed their second daughter over the weekend!
Just weeks after the Backstreet Boys began their Las Vegas residency at Planet Hollywood, the singer's wife gave birth to Lyric Dean McLean!
Rochelle reportedly went into labor during Saturday's show, and gave birth Sunday at 5:10 p.m. in Los Angeles. Lyric came in at 8 lbs, 3 oz, and measured at 22 inches.
This is the second daughter for the couple, they're also raising 4-year-old big sister Ava Jaymes.
The beloved boybander gushed about the newest edition to his family on Monday, breaking the news to People:
Did we die and go to boy band heaven??
As we reported, the Backstreet Boys are currently headlining an exclusive residency at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino called Backstreet Boys: Larger Than Life where they are performing their biggest hits!
Recently, while singing a rendition of Shape Of My Heart, the band welcomed on stage a very special guest who knows a thing or two about being in a popular group!
As seen (above), 'NSYNC's Joey Fatone got up and was serenaded by all five guys! Not only was he showered with roses, he got to kiss Nick Carter! We are so jealous!
