The news of James Gandolfini's unexpected and untimely death shocked the entire world today.
As we told you earlier, the Emmy-winning Sopranos star was vacationing in Rome when he suffered a heart attack that proved fatal.
The supremely gifted actor was only 51 and his premature loss will surely be felt across the industry.
HBO, proud home to The Sopranos for six seasons, issued this statement:
"We're all in shock and feeling immeasurable sadness at the loss of a beloved member of our family. He was special man, a great talent, but more importantly a gentle and loving person who treated everyone no matter their title or position with equal respect. He touched so many of us over the years with his humor, his warmth and his humility. Our hearts go out to his wife and children during this terrible time. He will be deeply missed by all of us."
Many of James' friends, co-stars, and fans also took to Twitter this afternoon to express their grief and offer their condolences to his family.
Here are but a few of the kind words:
Rebel Wilson continues to captivate audiences EVERYWHERE, including The View hosts!
The HIGHlarious actress stopped by to promote her new film Pain & Gain, and while she joked that her co-stars’ — Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson — bigger builds made her feel “slender,” it was her Whoopi Goldberg anecdote that had us intrigued!
Ch-ch-check out the awesome interview (above)! Rebel even divulges why she chose to become an actress — it includes a trip to South Africa, a bout of malaria, and a hallucination!
While she was in New York, Rebel also got to meet the one and only Bette Midler! She tweeted:
The Tony Award nominee list is out! And it looks like this just might be Cyndi Lauper’s year! Her musical collaboration with Harvey Fierstein, resulting in the new Broadway hit Kinky Boots, is garnering quite the attention with 13 Tony nominations!
What’s more? Tweens are dominating the musical theater awards with 12 nods for Matilda, 10 for Pippin and 9 for Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella!
But we’re have to admit we’re a little stumped by the play nominees! While Tom Hanks has got himself a Best Actor in a Play nomination, that list is looking a little empty. Where’s Al Pacino?! As for the ladies, no Bette Midler?!
Ch-ch-check out the full nomination list…AFTER THE JUMP!!!
The living legend reached out to the impregnated one on Monday night, tweeting:
I know it's so last week, but @kimkardashian would look adorable in the maternity clothes they have just on my block!!I buy them myself!!
— Bette Midler (@BetteMidler) April 1, 2013
Shade??? Kim didn't think so!
She retweeted the actress slash singer, saying:
Bette Midler is one gorgeous, talented lady and she's also into some freaky stuff.
Like watching birds get BUSY!! LOLz!
She recently tweeted:
And we don't mean the match-maker played by Will Smith!
The two legendary entertainers apparently HATE each other!
See, Barry started out as Bette's piano man, but the Mandy singer quickly escaped his humble beginnings and — with 80 million album sales beneath his belt — eventually outsold his former boss!
Bette didn't waste away by the wayside, but she apparently holds a grudge!
The Wind Beneath My Wings songstress wouldn't even attend his Manilow on Broadway opening!
Aww! We love Bette & Barry more than we love oxygen and chocolate milk, but the Tonys are bigger than these two stage legends!
We will not have them sullied!
Get it together, you two! The world is counting on you!
The show must go on!

During last night's eventful Golden Globes ceremony, Hunger Games' winning tribute from District 12 AKA Jennifer Lawrence won the award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy for her role in Silver Linings Playbook…
And girl caused confusion during her acceptance speech when she said :
"I beat Meryl [Streep]"
She wasn't shoving her GG win in Meryl Streep's face, as obviously Meryl wasn't even there to feel burned…
She's securing her place in our hearts as an adorable human being by quoting a line from the AWEsome revenge comedy, The First Wives Club,
