Not even Johnny Depp could detract from the cashcow that has become The Avengers!

While his new movie Dark Shadows was predicted to put a dent in the box office of Joss Whedon's record-breaking superhero extravaganza, Tim Burton's horror remake debuted to about $29 million this weekend, while the latter grossed around $103.2 million from Friday to Sunday alone!

And THAT, friends, means that it is the FIRST film EVER to reach

Now THAT'S a movie we'd pay BIG bucks for!!

With Johnny Depp entering the coffin club in Dark Shadows, the Robert Pattinson comparisons are ENDLESS!!

So when he was promoting the film at the London premiere, he finally broke down and joked:

There’s room for two vampires on this block — as long as he remembers I am the Alpha Vampire.

LOL!! Watch out, Johnny… those Twi-Hards are FIERCELY loyal!!

We'd personally like to see them suck it out for the title, buttt… that's just us! ;)

Dark Shadows certainly won't be beating The Avengers at the box office anytime soon, but if the midnight screenings are any sign, then it should do just fine this weekend.

Can the Lone Ranger Johnny Depp take down Iron Man and Co.?

The race to the bank this weekend between The Avengers and Dark Shadows might be neck-and-neck — and for vampires that usually bodes well.

Avengers could break the unbelievable $1 billion dollar mark as soon as Sunday but Dark Shadows is expected to do very well and, in some cases, is already outearning Joss Whedon’s solid-gold superhero pic.

Johnny takes a tumble!

Johnny Depp had a near death experience when he fell off his horse during a shoot for Lone Ranger.

The actor himself admitted that his stunt horse, Scout, saved the day (and his life)

Depp stated the following:

I'm lucky to be here. I've done a number of films on horseback and I've taken a couple of spills but this was a violent one.

I had a good relationship with the horse, which was named Scout, and when I look at the tape I can see that Scout saved my life.

I went down badly and I was dragged for 25 yards and in the end the horse just jumped over me and clipped me with his back legs.

That's some quick thinking on the horse's part!

Now we don't have to worry when we see Dark Shadows tomorrow!

Phew! What a relief!!

As much as we'd love to get a piece of Johnny Depp, we're happy to officially hear his family is still happily together!

Wednesday night, the screen god verbally addressed the rumors at the London Dark Shadows premiere, insisting that he and his lady love are still happily intertwined. He said:

With a style like that and a talent worthy of Oscar gold, Johnny Depp can be bashful about pretty much anything without losing any of this love!!

So when he told Ellen yesterday that he'd "rather swallow a bag of hair" than dance out-of-character, we continued to love him despite the shattering of our wedding dance fantasies. ;)

And BTW Ellen… way to go for booking this guy!! We know how hard it is getting him to do television interviews!! Sure, he's on the Dark Shadows promotional tour, but still!! IMPRESSIVE!!!
