Birdman and Lil Wayne may not be on the best terms right now — or even on good terms — but the rapper's mentor says he still cares about his frenemy.

The 46-year-old opened up about their feud, explaining that he's confused as to why it even started in the first place, saying:
"You never thought Wayne would be saying nothing negative about me in no lifetime. I never thought that could ever happen — for that man to open his mouth and say something negative about me. I love my son. He mean the world to me. For that man to say something negative about me, that affected my life."
When it came out that Weezy was suing Birdman because he delayed the released of his newest album, Tha Carter V — and therefore allegedly violated their contract — we figured maybe it would just be a brief legal battle and the two would return to being fierce friends when it was all said and done.
Instead, Wayne made it pretty clear that he also wanted out of their label, Cash Money, and things sort of spiraled from there.

While police are linking rappers Birdman and Young Thug to the April hit in Atlanta, it seems one of them would like to clear the air.
According to sources, Wayne's former mentor, Birdman, reportedly reached out to tell him that he had nothing to do with it and would even help him figure out who the culprits are!

Considering the two have been on the worst of terms as of late, with Birdman supposedly throwing a drink on Weezy as recently as two weeks ago, it's quite the twist!
But we can see why he'd want to clear his name, especially since sources close to both men have confirmed that the rapper did receive a call shortly after the shooting, as previously reported.

Since Wayne was not allowed to release his latest album Tha Carter V, he decided to bypass the rules and drop his album on TIDAL for free.
While he thought he found a loophole, Cash Money says that since they owned the music, Jay Z's streaming service broke the law and now owes them $50 million!
