United Airlines Pulls Ad From Tribeca Film Festival After It Receives Awkward Response

united ad pulled from film festival

Smart move, United Airlines.

As you surely know, the airline is still struggling with the backlash they received when aviation officers forcibly dragged a man, named Dr. David Dao, off one of their flights. This fallout has even affected the company's presence at the Tribeca Film Festival, where they serve as one of the signature partners of the fest.

Apparently, the airline has pulled a 30-second ad which had been playing before several film screenings since the opening of the festival on April 19. It's said audiences couldn't help but laugh at the commercial for United Airlines' Polaris Business Class as it painted the company as a doting, luxurious form of travel.

The Hollywood Reporter's John DeFore perfectly put it, as he noted:

Cara Delevingne's Mascara Ad Banned For Being Misleading

Cara Delevingne's mascara ad is banned!

Mascara companies keep having this problem!

Cara Delevingne's latest TV ad for Rimmel mascara has been banned for being misleading by the UK's Advertising Standards Authority.

The spot features the supermodel applying the mascara, which promises "dangerously bold lashes." According to the ASA, the ad had been too manipulated by Photoshop.

Even though Rimmel conceded that there had been post-production effects on the ad, they still defended it by saying that it was an accurate representation. They also admitted to using lash inserts to give the lashes a more "uniform" look overall.

Unfortunately for them, the ASA ruled:

"While it was not clear whether this was due to the lash inserts or the redrawing of some lashes in post-production, or both, we considered that the overall effect was longer lashes with more volume.

"Because the ad conveyed a volumising, lengthening and thickening effect of the product, we considered the use of lash inserts and the post-production technique were likely to exaggerate the effect beyond what could be achieved by the product among consumers."

Whomp.

In newer ads, the use of lash inserts is often noted in the fine print. Regardless, the ASA obviously felt like Rimmel had gone a little too far.

They're doing BIG things!

On Friday, it was announced both singers are launching their own separate lines in collaboration with big-time jewelers!

According to WWD, RiRi linked up with Chopard to co-create a bejeweled nine-piece capsule collection to be released in May at the Cannes Film Festival! Meanwhile, Kanye designed a 12-piece collection with Jacob & Co.'s Jacob Arabo.

Unsurprisingly, you won't find any affordable pieces in either collab.

In fact, the Bajan bombshell's prices are only available upon request, while Kim Kardashian West's hubby's starts at $1,530 for a small gold ring and goes to $11,960 for a pendant necklace.

Now, sources at SFPD tell TMZ that they might take legal action!

They say that Pepsi never asked for permission to use the logo, and that they're currently discussing the matter with the City Attorney to see if any legal lines were crossed.

Whelp!

At least the soda giant has tons of money and shrewd legal eagles of its own. We're sure they'll be fine.
