Jennifer Hudson is in and Kelly Clarkson is out, but who will take the next seat on the American Idol judging panel??!

In an effort to squash season 12's horrific ratings, AI is looking to their OWN past contestants to boost viewership and Adam Lambert is absolutely up for the job.

In fact, the former Idol is SO excited at the prospect that he would accept an invitation to join the team on the spot.

The Whataya Want from Me singer said:

In an effort to entice viewers back into the world of American Idol, producers have decided to bring superstar alum Jennifer Hudson on board as a judge!

Multiple sources have confirmed that she has signed on for Season 13, which airs this Fall.

Kelly Clarkson is reportedly very close to signing on as well, with the third spot being reserved for either Adam Lambert or Clay Aiken.

American Idol needs serious help! More importantly, it needs some judges!

While we’d love nothing more than to see Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, and Randy Jackson reunite — we can dream a little, can’t we? — it seems Fox and the show’s production companies are looking to bring former Idol contestants to the judging panel.

Jennifer Hudson and Kelly Clarkson have reportedly been contacted, while Adam Lambert and Clay Aiken remain at the top of the list.

Contestant Angie Miller spoke out about this potential plan and said:

If you couldn't decide whether you prefer Adam Lambert to Frank Ocean, you're not the only one!!

Both magnificent musicians were nominated for Outstanding Musical Artist at last night's GLAAD Media Awards in San Francisco and, guess what, voters couldn't decide which one they liked best!!

The American Idol star and the Thinkin About You singer actually ended up sharing the award!!

Adam was also honored with the Davidson/Valenti Award because of his dedication to the LGBT community and consistent and significant promotion of equal rights!

Even cooler, Mel B. handed him the trophy!!!
