It'll certainly take some heavy duty star power to revive the quickly fading American Idol!

But will Jennifer Lopez be willing to board the sinking ship?

Well, if anyone can convince her it's probably Ryan Seacrest, who is the only one still clinging to the show. And if he wants to keep making big buckos there, he BETTER convince the ultimate diva to bring her sparkle back to the show!

It certainly sounds like he's trying to make it happen as they allegedly met up in a very top secret manner! An insider revealed:

Considering pretty much NOTHING is getting better with American Idol, this NEW news isn't going to help the already struggling show.

We already told you about how American Idol Live canceled some of the dates for their summer tour, but that's the least of the issues. Of the tour dates remaining, the tickets aren't even getting sold!

No money, no show!

Ticket sales allegedly hit a high in 2011 but only dropped by about 10% the next year. However, this year, ticket sales are reportedly already down 347%!

It doesn't take a business mastermind to figure out that those numbers mean business is bad!

The summer tour is still set to start on July 19th, but fans better start buying up tickets if they want to keep the sinking ship above water.

Carrie Underwood’s career has skyrocketed as a result of American Idol, so it seems like she would be the PERFECT contestant to return as a judge!!

Apparently the higher-ups at Idol don’t feel the same way, because they didn’t even ASK to see if she’d consider the job!

Thankfully, Carrie’s too busy to feel slighted anyway. In a red carpet interview at the CMT Music Awards, she said:

After a season of unacceptably low ratings, Fox is hellbent on reviving American Idol!!

Unfortunately, according to one source, that means canning executive producers Nigel Lythgoe and Ken Warwick!

Both men helped produce AI's inaugural season in 2002, but a decade worth of dedication isn't worth much in the high-stakes world of network TV programming!

Especially when viewership is at an all-time LOW!

That's the lucrative game producers sign up for, though! If they preferred hugs and ice cream sandwiches to pink slips, they could've gotten a degree in continental philosophy!

So, Nigel and Ken are now jobless!!

Three of the show's judges departed, too, with the fourth — Keith Urban — reportedly still on his way out.

Even Fox's alternative programming guru Mike Darnell was shown the door!

What happens now?!

While other divas like Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj have abandoned ship after American Idol’s season of low ratings, Jennifer Lopez is not phased by the lack of viewers!!!

J.Lo is going against the grain and unlike ALL of the other judges, hopes to return to the Idol judging panel for next season!!

We don’t see how the producers of this flailing show could refuse!

A source reportedly has said:

If American Idol is trying to save face…well, it appears they aren't.

After last season’s ratings hit an all-time low, Idol cut back their post-season concert tour by A LOT.

This past season’s winner, Candice Glover, and ten other Idol-ers were all set to kick off their much deserved summer tour of 40 venues at the end of this month.

Now their tour won’t begin until the end of July, and will only hit 75% of those intended venues!! This is majorly sad news, especially for the contestants!

A spokesperson released the following statement:

We all thought that with both Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj quitting American Idol, the two would back off each other just a tiiiiny bit.

Guess we thought wrong!

Over the weekend, Mariah Carey surprised everyone with her guest performance of #Beautiful with Miguel at the Hot 97 Summer Jam XX.

Later in the day, Nicki Minaj pulled the same exact move and was ALSO a surprise guest at the same concert!!!

Her Minajesty performed I Love Dem Strippers with 2 Chainz.
