Celebrities have been known to lie about baby news before, especially if the story breaks early on in a pregnancy. Superstitions and all that jazz, ya know.

On Monday, news broke that Ashlee Simpson is expecting her first child with boyfriend turned recent fiancee Pete Wentz.

Within hours, though, the Fall Out Boy bassist was denying those reports.

Now, Ashlee herself is weighing in on the baby blabber.

Taping an episode of TRL, to air Thursday on MTV, Simpson denied that she is pregnant, sources tell PerezHilton.com.

"She said that the rumors have been going around for about a year now and if she was pregnant she shoulda had the baby by now," a source at the taping tells us.

And there you have it….for now.

Only time (and a bump) will tell!

It's hard to tell!

Ashlee Simpson was spotted in public Monday, just hours after news of her possible spermination broke.

The engaged singer was spotted at LAX airport looking no more plump than ever before, but, then again, she may be still early on.

Or, she may just not be pregnant!

Despite the fact that both Us Weekly and OK! are reporting that they are expecting a baby, Pete Wentz is denying talk of Ashlee Simpson's spermination.

The Fall Out Boy bassist personally tells MTV News:

"There is a witch hunt for people to be pregnant whenever they get engaged in Hollywood," he wrote in an email. "This is all news to me. I can't wait for the story about how I'm really in a gay relationship and this is all just a cover. … I mean really, this is crazy. … I mean were engaged, that's true, and happy about it."

Asked again if he was denying reports that Simpson is pregnant, Wentz replied, "Yeah."

As we mentioned earlier today, Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson will soon be expecting their first born child! The couple have been together for about a year and a half.

Now, OK! magazine is reporting that the pair will expect their baby in late October. So if we do the math, that means Ashlee was sperminated some time around January!

They sure are precise, or so they claim, OK!.

A source says that the pair are "perfect for each other as any two people could be. They don't spend a minute apart if they can possibly avoid it and are over the moon about the baby."

As for the wedding, that should be coming up soon. You know Poppa Simpson is gonna make them wed before a baby pops out!

The friend adds, "They're planning on something in the Santa Barbara area probably by the end of May. Ashlee would like to walk down the aisle before she's showing – although she is very cute the way she is always checking out her belly now and asking everyone, 'am I showing yet?' She's leaning towards Vera Wang for her gown. Pete and his groomsmen are probably going to be in Dolce & Gabbana."

As for the wedding bands, the friend continues, "Pete may personally design their wedding bands. He designed the diamond and silver 'promise ring' he gave Ashlee last October."

The maid of honor is said to be none other than big sis Jessica Simpson.

The friend adds that "I don't think Jessica and Tony are that far behind!"

We Love chatty friends! Keep talking!!

When Ashlee shared the news privately with Jessica, the friend adds, "I think there might have been a little concern about possibly jealousy but Jess couldn't have been more wonderful. She is very, very happy for Ashlee."

As for momma and poppa Simpson, they received the news from Ahslee and Pete together.

The friend continues, "Tina is super, super happy. Joe was his usual practical self. His first reaction was to worry how they were going to 'deal' with it, meaning all the real-life decisions that had to be made. But he couldn't help but be won over because Ashlee, Pete and Tina were all so happy."

Joe needn't worry about his daughter and son-in-law-to-be handling it. They're living in Ashlee's Hollywood Hills home, which has four levels and built into a hillside. "They are already talking about finding something more kid-friendly."

Seems like there's lots of good things coming her way. Next week, on April 22nd, Ashlee's next album, Bittersweet World will be released, and the same day her shirt line for Wet Seal will hit the stores.

And the friend continues, "These two love each other so much, are so happy about becoming parents and are fortunate enough to have really supportive families on both sides. They'll figure it all out."

Congrats to the happy couple we guess.

What does Poppa Joe, a former minister, think about having a grandchild born out of wedlock???

They better have those nuptials FAST!

This will be the first child for both Asslee and fiancee Pete Wentz.

The Fall Out Boy bassist's confirmed the happy news today, saying, "We are thrilled to confirm their engagement and congratulate this happy couple. Beyond that there is nothing to say."

We're sure Asslee's label is THRILLED with the pregnancy. Simpson has a new album coming out this month. The baby news means she probably won't tour behind the record and any promotion will be minimal.

We reported last week that some naughty lamb leaked Mariah Carey's ENTIRE new album on to the internet.

Well, a new report claims that the leak might have come from the Ashlee Simpson camp!

Ass and Mimi have albums dropping a week apart. It's a no brainer who will win in that head-to-head match up.

Would Poppa Joe really throw down in this way?

Simpson's album was supposed to come out last year, but it was pushed back (more than once).

A source told MSNBC, "Joe Simpson has every right to be nervous about Ashlee going up against Mariah. They are backed into a corner with this release date since they already changed it once. Their only option in fighting the Mariah machine would be to create a way to make the album's release less newsworthy."

Hey, a daddy's supposed to look after his money machine daughter!

We expect a denial from Asslee's camp to be issued, oh, in a matter of seconds.

Update:

A rep for Joe Simpson tells us, "The story is completely untrue and ridiculous. There is no way that Joe would have access to another artist’s unreleased album."

Let the pregnancy conspiracy theories begin!!!!

“He got down on one knee and she said yes,” a family friend tells In Touch exclusively. A rep for the couple also confirms the happy news.

Ashlee and Pete just got back from Colorado, where Wentz's brother had an art exhibit.

During their getaway, the Fall Out Boy bassist asked the younger Simpson for her hand in marriage.

“She has an amazing ring, and they are so in love,” the friend tells the mag.

And, Ashlee’s parents, Popa Joe and Tina, not only approve but are said to be thrilled!

Update: The couple has just released a statement!

They say….

"We know there has been a lot of speculation recently about Pete and I and we wanted our fans to be the first to know, because you guys are the best. Yes, we are thrilled to share that we are happily engaged. Thank you for all of your support and well wishes - it means the world to us. We consider this to be a very private matter, but we wanted you to hear it straight from us. - Ashlee and Pete"

Joe Simpson is the big daddy of Hollywood pimps!

It's just been announced that Ashlee Simpson has been sold into a partnership with teeny bopper mall store Wet Seal.

The store will launch a new collection of tops 'designed' by Asslee in conjunction with her third CD release, Bittersweet World, and a major in-store and online nationwide promotion on April 22nd. Guess what? Wet Seal will also be selling Ass' CD in-store!

“I was inspired by so many fun, wonderful things as I was recording Bittersweet World and it’s been great to carry through those inspirations into these new shirt designs,” said Ashlee (probs with Poppa Joe standing over her). “I hope my fans love this album and rock out in these shirts!”

Hope this thing helps your sales, Ass! You should also ask daddy for a raise in your allowance.

We can't wait to see how bad her designs are!

Even though she's been reported to have gotten so drunk she's puked at clubs on several occasions (who hasn't?), Ashlee Simpson is adamant that she was not inebriated during a morning radio show appearance this week.

Ass is fighting mad and is taking to her MySpace Celebrity blog to lash out at the DJ and defend her reputable honor.

She says:

"Response to False Rumors

I'm sitting on my bus heading to Tampa, FL. I have been on a promo tour. It has been a crazy hectic schedule. Early mornings for radio and late nights playing club shows. It's been a lot of work, but I have great people with me so it's been a lot of fun! I just wanted to address the rumors from a couple days ago at a morning radio show. It was very upsetting to hear that people are saying that I was intoxicated when I came in for my morning interview. I take my work very seriously and would never disrespect anyone and come into an interview that way. Here is the honest to God truth and this is for none other then my fans:

The night before I had a good friend come to my hotel to give me a tattoo. When I arrived to the radio station I showed them the tattoo I got the night before. It is my belief that they automatically assumed that because I got a tattoo I must have drank that night. I would never get a tattoo after drinking nor would a reputable tattoo artist do a tattoo after someone was drinking. When I walked into the radio station I was thrown into the interview. They didn't even introduce themselves to me before starting it, and just put me on the air. I felt bad energy and like I was about to be attacked as soon as I sat down. I felt uncomfortable. I'm sure you all have heard the interview so there is no need for me to sit here & tell you everything that was said and asked. As you may have noticed, I was asked mostly personal questions which are never fun to be asked and therefore I giggled my way through it. If you listen to other interviews I've done, you'd know I giggle a lot. Not only because I am a happy person & everyone who knows me knows I laugh all day long, but also I giggle when people ask me uncomfrotable questions not knowing what to say or what else to do. Questions & false rumors about my dad being a jerk, being pregnant, being engaged, etc are not fun to answer every single day. Eventually I try to just laugh them off and hope they start asking me important questions about my album and music which is why I am there. Five minutes after the interview was over I heard the dj that interviewed me say on the air that I was drunk. That really upset me especially after how uncomfortable they made me feel. Twenty minutes after that I went to XM Radio for an interview. They treated me with respect and were thankful for me showing up so early in the morning. I told the DJ there what had just happened and he said he wasn't surprised at all. The XM DJ said he used to work at that radio station and that he does things like that to people all the time trying to make a "story" out of it. He hated it because he did things like that to people all the time.
Throughout my career, I have learned that you must speak up for yourself when people try to put you down. That is why I am writing this today. I'm tired of people making things up about others. Again, this is for my fans. You are what is important to me.

We reported earlier that Ashlee Simpson appeared to be drunk on a Washington D.C. radio morning show today.

Well, Ass' rep just got in touch with us and issued the following statement,

"Ashlee was absolutely not intoxicated this morning on Hot 99.5. She has been working extremely hard traveling across the country to promote her upcoming new album by performing at night and waking up very early the next day to do radio interviews in the morning – like any of us would be – she was simply just tired."

OK, Mr. PR man.
