Ange Does Clint

8345888122.jpg

Angelina Jolie is just too perfect for words!

The mother of six and Brad Pitt's baby momma made a very surprise appearance last night at the Hollywood Film Festival's Gala Ceremony in Beverly Hills.

And the reason for her appearance? To pay tribute to director Clint Eastwood.

Angie had the honor of of presenting Eastwood, who worked with her in her latest flick The Changeling, with the director of the year award. And she even had some lovely words for him.

She told the audience, "There are some people in this business that are icons, and we often wonder if, when we meet them, they'll live up to what we imagine them to be. And Clint Eastwood in person is even better. Clint is what every great director should be. He is a great leader. And I certainly would follow him anywhere."

And it seems the two grew fond of each other.

As he accepted his award Eastwood said, "Working with someone like Angelina Jolie is a great privilege, because you get to look on that gorgeous beauty every day. And she's a great talent."

Taking time out her of overly busy schedule for this? Ange is just too good!

2009 Oscar Host?

ricky1.jpg

British comedian and Office creator/producer Ricky Gervais' presenting gig was one of the few glimmers of light during Sunday's barely watched Emmy Awards ceremony.

His memorable appearance has done him some good as peeps in Hollywoodland are reportedly clamoring for the man to host next year's Oscars.

His reps have supposedly been besieged with inquiries about his availability and were urged to book a meeting with Academy Awards organizers.

Would he be the first Brit ever to serve as host?

Ricky is funny, but is he the right man for the job?

What do U think?

Who Will Make The Cut???

metallica-rules.jpg

Run-D.M.C., Metallica, and the Stooges are among the 9 nominees up for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

In order to receive a nomination an act must have released its first single 25 years prior. This is the first year that Run-D.M.C. qualifies and if they get accepted, they will be only the second rap act ever to be inducted. Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five was the first rap group to receive a place in the Hall in 2007.

The nominees also include guitarist Jeff Beck, singer Wanda Jackson, Little Anthony and the Imperials, War, Bobby Womack, and disco R&B group Chic. With Chic, the Stooges, and Jackson previously nominated, the group represents a large number of newcomers and a wide range of genres.

However, notably absent from the ballot were Stevie Ray Vaughan and Bon Jovi, both of which just became eligible.

How could you diss Bon Jovi???!!!!!!!

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has met with some controversy in the 25 years since the Foundation came into existence, mostly for its nomination process as some of the members of the nomination committee aren't musicians. Recently there has been some question over the smaller pool of nominees from 14 or 15 to 9, limiting voters' options.

The five most voted nominees will be announced in January with the induction following in April.

In 2009 the induction ceremony will be returning to its home of Cleveland, Ohio after a ten year hiatus in New York.

Who would U vote for?

Fill In The Blank

Ex-Amazing Race competitors Kynt and Vyxsin were certainly the most colorful Emmy guests on the red carpet Sunday afternoon.

Emmys Disaster - Least Watched Ceremony In History!

emmy11.jpg

You could tell from the moment the five reality TV hosts took the stage it was going to be bad.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Sunday night's Emmy presentation was the lowest rated EVER in its history.

No surprise. It was painful to watch!!!

We wanted to change the channel 10 minutes into the show.

12.2 million viewers tuned in last night, which was 18% lower than last year's crappy total.

THR also pointed out that the ceremony 'was largely derided by critics, who found the presentation's pacing off kilter and focus on unscripted shows awkward and unfunny.'

Here's a little taste of what the critics had to say:

USA Today: "It was hideously awful from start to harried finish, dragged down by five amateurish reality anchors who would have been unwelcome as guests, let alone hosts."

MSNBC: "The Emmy telecast offers quality that's dismally lower than nearly anything else on television. "American Idol" and "Dancing with the Stars" deserve plenty of criticism, but even their worst episodes — typically their results shows, as they lack content and waste time — are more engaging and entertaining than the Emmys … The Emmys need to dump their producers and directors, hiring a team who knows how to produce popular television."

AP: "Are the TV writers still on strike?"

Zap2It: "The entire gambit of letting the Emmy nominated hosts handle the show proved a dud on nearly every level. None of them were funny and because there were so many of them and each of their egos had to be stroked, the bloat kicked in almost instantly."

Fresno Bee: "You could take all the elephants in the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey circus, feed them rancid chili and rotten boiled eggs for a month, and they could not create a bigger stinker … The night was supposed to be a tribute to 60 years of television. It ended up being a reminder that people grow old."

Ouch!

Should the Academy just do away with the Emmy telecast? No.

Is there any possible way to make it better? Any suggestions???

Bring back Ellen as host!

All About the SWAG

emmy.jpg

With preparations underway 24/7 at the Nokia Theater, Hollywood takes time to enjoy gifts and food in the days leading up to the 60th Primetime Emmy Awards to be broadcast this Sunday, tomorrow, on ABC.

Everyone loves freebies and this year they are in no short supply!

To make us all jealous….

Melanie Segal's Celebrity Emmy House in West Hollywood offered products such as blow dryers, blue-tooth headsets, shoes, and sunglasses. Celebrities browsing the gifts included Rachel Leigh Cook, Dancing With the Stars contestant Maurice Green and stars from High School Musical, and they kept stressing how "blessed" they are to be among those priveleged to receive free stuff from companies and designers.

You got that right!

Another perk that celebrities get to enjoy as part of the Emmy preparty is fine meals and fine drinking at exclusive dinners.

One dinner is so exclusive, in fact, that men aren't even allowed!

The event is actually an opportunity for the ladies to come together and talk in a no-pressure situation. Of which award-winning Sandra Oh from Grey's Anatomy said, "These are your homies," adding that all the dinners are a nice opportunity for people to get to know each other off the Emmy circus scene.

Indeed, as Sunday draws closer, the red carpet is more of a large tented event rather than a strolling walkway. For the first time the Emmys will take place at the new Nokia Theater and the entire space between the theater and the Staples Center will serve as a platform for interviews and photo ops.

Hope no one gets lost!

Even the parking garage and roof will be included in the Emmys, making this 60th presentation one of the biggest yet.

When asked if wife and Emmy co-host Heidi Klum was nervous, Seal said, "She's really excited."

We are too!

Good luck!
