Now that Emma Watson is Emmarella no more, Saoirse Ronan has landed as the frontrunner for the role of Cinderella!

It was announced yesterday that Emma had left the project, and though we were really looking forward to seeing Hermione battle her evil stepmother, Cate Blanchett, we’re anxious for the official word on the casting of the little cinder girl.

Kenneth Branagh is set to direct the project. Meanwhile filming is scheduled to start later this year in London.

This glass slipper was obviously a pinch too tight for Emma Watson's liking!

We were as excited as dress-making mice to hear that the Bling Ring star was considering an offer to play the title role in Kenneth Branagh's live-action Disney remake of Cinderella…

But our Emmarella dreamz are now DEAD, as it's officially been confirmed that Emma will NOT portray the enchanted step-child slave opposite Cate Blanchett's Evil Stepmother.

Variety reporter Marc Graser tweeted the sad news, posting:

Emma Watson's fairytale fantasy might turn into a pumpkin before it begins, but Cate Blanchett's fate is sealed and it is deliciously evil.

The award-winning actress has signed on to play the villainous stepmother in the retelling of Cinderella.

But will Emma be the one Cate demands mop the floors??!

No official word yet on who has been offered the title role, but we've been searching high and low for our fairy godmother to make our casting dreams come true!

Hopefully we'll find her before the clock strikes midnight and someone else rides off with Emma's rightful prince charming.

George Clooney and his friends did more than stuff their faces with bratwurst and sauerkraut at a fine Berlin eatery recently!

The Good German star bewildered a businessman at the next table by singing a tune from O Brother, Where Art Thou? unexpectedly paying his $130 tab!!

The reason? George feared he and his party were annoyingly loud, and this was his way of apologizing.

Whoa!! How nice!!

The pleasantly surprised German said:

Talk about sacrificing your health for the job!

Anne Hathaway was very dedicated to her role of Fantine in Les Misérables; in fact, she was so dedicated that she nearly sacrificed her wellbeing!

Cutting her hair wasn’t enough, so the actress decided to drop 25lbs for the part too! She explained her drastic desision, saying:

"I see the sort of work that people like Meryl Streep and Cate Blanchett and Kate Winslet can do, and I want to do that level of work so badly. But I don't believe I'm as gifted as them. So the only thing I can control is how hard I work at it — how much do I commit to it? How far will I take it?… If I have an extra glass of wine the night before I shoot a scene. I don't feel good about myself because of that. If I see it on-screen, the guilt is immediate. I feel like maybe I've let the scene down."

Sounds grueling!

The director, Tom Hooper, worried about Anne, and didn’t like the weight loss. He said, "To be honest, I thought she was going further than she should, and I tried to discourage her."

Well somebody had to say something!

Anne acknowledged him, and said, “Tom didn't like what I was doing, but he understood why I was doing it. No one liked what I was doing. By the end, people were hugging me and they would get emotional because I felt so frail."

We definitely understand wanting to give your all to your work, but at what cost?

Thankfully, she’s back to her normal eating habits, and should be back to a healthy weight in no time!

Just as Angelina Jolie will appear as the villainous Maleficent in a live-action re-telling of Sleeping Beauty, Cate Blanchett is currently in negotiations to take on the role of the evil stepmother in an updated version of Cinderella set to be produced by Disney.

Thanks to the success of their Alice in Wonderland remake with Johnny Depp, the House of Mouse has been developing this project since May of 2010, and

The Hobbit is coming in just a month, with it's follow up coming the next couple years. So it's about time we met the brand new fellowship from the Lord Of The Rings prequels, whose journey we'll be invested in for quite some time!

A new series of one-sheet posters shows us some old friends and some brand new faces- well, parts of faces that aren't covered by beards!
