Despite rumors of their rocky relationship, Cheryl and Ashley Cole spent a night out in Londontown to celebrate the birthday of Girls Aloud bandmates Sarah Harding and Kimberley Walsh this weekend.

So much for smooth sailing!

In a rare public appearance together, Cheryl Cole and her husband Ashley ventured out for a Saturday night in Londontown, but ended up exactly where they often do - in a fight!

After Cheryl's performance at the Children In Need concert, the two hit up the Mayfair Hotel joined by Girls Aloud bandmate Nicola Roberts and her boyfriend.

"They were all sat around the table having a really good time. They were drinking and appeared really relaxed as they laughed and joked," said an onlooker.

But, it didn't last long! The two could barely crack a smile as they left the hotel the following morning!

Since Ashley's infidelity two years ago, the couple has not been the same. Supposedly, Cheryl has not been able to get past it and rightfully so!

"They still have the occasional moment of fun but they both know, particularly Cheryl, that this isn't going to be forever," claims a friend. "The pattern of their relationship seems to be that she achieves something and she spends the next three or four days massaging his ego and building him up again. Supporting Cheryl doesn't sit well with Ashley's need to be alpha male."

Such a douche!!

We expected nothing less!

Girls Aloud member and X Factor judge Cheryl Cole, has much to celebrate today. She is now one of the few female artist ever to achieve simultaneously a U.K. No. 1 single and album!

Yes!

Her debut solo album 3 Words opened in the top spot while her single, Fight For This Love, arrived at No. 1 last week, was dubbed the U.K.'s fastest-selling single of the year, and has held onto the top honor for the second week.

Congrats, Cheryl!

Wow!

Cheryl Cole's debut single, Fight For This Love has topped the UK sales record set by Girls Aloud!

Girls Aloud's 2002 single, Sound Of The Underground, sold 213,000 copies in its first week of sales, but Cole's new single sold over 231,000 units in the first five days alone!!!

Chezza's song has grown on us and we can forgive the fact that she was a bit stuff in her performance - she was singing live!

And Ashlee Simpson calls it her career!

Cheryl Cole is slated to perform for the X Factor this weekend, debuting her first solo single.

There's only one problem: some people seem to think that Cheryl plans to "mime" her performance by relying on pre-recorded vocals to the new song Fight For This Love, while others say that that is ridiculous - like Cheryl!

Only moments after an insider suggested that Cheryl would be lip-syching her way through her performance, Cheryl came out swinging, denying the allegations fervently! She clarified that she would be pre-recording the segment, due to the live format the show works in, but her singing will still be live!

She was quoted saying: "I really don't see the problem. I will be singing live. I just won't have time to get changed and get prepared for the performance, and be a judge on the show. It would be too hectic."

Understandable. You've got a lot on your plate their Cheryl. And we really don't think she would lip-synch.

We can't say the same of the show's other guest on Sunday- Whitney Houston.

Simon Cowell is celebrating his 50's birthday on Wednesday and the Brit had an early birthday party this weekend in England.

And from what we've heard, it was a lot of racy fun with a sort of Moulin Rogue theme to it.

One act included a performer dressed as a woman's privates who went on stage and pretended to use several sex toys. Inneresting.

We can only image what his 82-year-old mother, Julie, thought of the whole thing!

Simon's publicist and friend, Max Clifford, revealed: “It was a brilliant party, some parts of it had an outrageously camp theme. The funniest thing was seeing Simon trying to explain it to his mum, who was there with a priest and some of her friends from church. She asked what it was and he told her it was a sideways mouth and a toothbrush but it was very suggestive and it was very clear what it was supposed to be"

Another show included an almost fully naked woman doing a reverse strip, where she went on stage and dressed herself.

In attendance were many of Simon's friends, including several of his ex's such as Terri Seymour, and celebs like Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Piers Morgan, Dannii Minogue, Cheryl Cole, Randy Jackson, Ryan Seacrest and others.

The party ended around 5 in the morning with a naked guy staggering to a car and being driven away.

Simon Cowell + Ryan Seacrest + A Naked Man = Three Happy Men.

What was she thinking????

Cheryl Cole stunned viewers when - for some inexplicable reason - she did not pick fan favorite Ethan Boroian to advance to the next round of The X Factor.

Booted at boot camp!

You remember Ethan, right? He's the dreamy contestant from Chicago who is now living and studying in England and melted hearts at home with stirring rendition of Kings of Leon's Use Somebody.

We still can't believe he didn't make it through to the final round!

Less talented people have made it through on American Idol - and won!!!!!!

Sure, he didn't give his best performance at boot camp. But it wasn't horrible!

Any blind person, except Cheryl Cole, obviously, can see the talent this kid has.
