On Tuesday, a jury from the Erath County District Court found Eddie Ray Routh guilty for the murder of Chris Kyle, the inspiration for the Clint Eastwood-directed film American Sniper.
The ex-Marine was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Prosecutors did not seek the death penalty.

In February 2013, the 27-year-old shot Kyle and Chad Littlefield at the Rough Creek Lodge and Resort's shooting range in Texas.
The former member of the Marine Corps had pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity, claiming he was under psychosis when he released fire on the Navy Seal and his friend. A veteran of the Iraq war, he had been diagnosed with schizophrenia since becoming a soldier.
No matter how good American Sniper was, it still just couldn't unseat Miley Cyrus.

The numbers are finally in and it looks like American Sniper made $30.7 million between Friday and Saturday!
That's a whole lotta dough!!
But it still wasn't enough to dethrone Miley Cyrus' Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert.

The concert movie opened over the Super Bowl weekend back in 2008 and raked in $31.8 million!
Even though Miley still reigns, Sniper has made almost $250 million domestically so far.
Yeah, we're pretty sure director Clint Eastwood will be okay with losing out on that one. LOLz!

Over the weekend, the Clint Eastwood-directed film brought in $90.2 million, setting a January record. The weekend's second highest grossing movie was Wedding Ringer, with $21 million.

What's surprising about American Sniper is that usually movies don't make this much money until summer, but this flick seems to resonate with most people. Also because Bradley Cooper is so hot right now!
On just Friday alone, American Sniper brought in $30.5 million!
The last record for a January movie was held by Avatar, who made $68.5 million during one weekend in 2010.
So, if you haven't seen it yet, you're probably missing out!
Pretty darn good for a flick that was only in select theaters!
Bradley Cooper's new film American Sniper has set a new Christmas record, becoming the most lucrative film for a title that was only screened in less than 10 theaters. It brought in $212,500 for a 4-day per-theater average.
It was also one of 2014's biggest limited releases!

And it's understandable since the Clint Eastwood-directed flick has an A+ CinemaScore, meaning both males and females like it, as well as people over and under 25 years old.
American Sniper will hit other theaters on January 16th.
