However, stars of the 1985 cult movie The Goonies, including Corey Feldman, who played Mouth, says that he along with his co-star Sean Astin, writer Steven Spielberg, and director Richard Donner want to reunite for a sequel.
Feldman says:
"I would do it if [the studio] was serious, but unfortunately they can't seem to get it together. We all like to see it happen, but it's one of those stumbling blocks where no matter how much love there is … The No. 1 question that’s always been asked of me for the last 20 years is, 'Will there be a sequel to Goonies?,' and unfortunately my answer is always the same. It’s not up to me, you know, it's the studio.
They treasure this film, as you know. It is literally their greatest family film title of all time. That's the way they see it. It's always on the top 25, all DVD sales around the world all the time. If we go and throw a sequel out there that's lesser [in quality,] then suddenly we may hurt this continuous cash cow."
We still can't picture that anyone would be willing to shell out their dough to see a middle-aged Chunk, but to each their own.
And if the movie is such a money maker, wouldn't the studio be on board?? Maybe they agree that they should just let a classic remain a classic.
With the upcoming 25th anniversary of The Goonies, wouldn't it be AWESOME if they made an announcement about the long-awaited sequel?
Unfortunately, that's unlikely to happen…but how would U like to see The Goonies on BROADWAY?!?!?
Here's what director Richard Donner had to say about the future of Goonies:
“We were thinking that (the sequel) for years back, couldn’t do it. Felt like everything we were doing would hurt what we had with the original, hence the musical. But Steven (Spielberg) said something the other day to me that he and Chris (Columbus) were talking about and maybe something — but I don’t think there’d be a sequel. I wouldn’t remake it. If anything it’d be something new and fresh. Hopefully we’re doing this as a musical on Broadway. It took forever to get on Broadway. It was a long, long process but it just got a lot shorter because there’s a great writer/producer (Tim Long) who does musicals on The Simpsons which are classic. He just delivered a treatment on ‘Goonies’ as a musical and it’s friggin’ great.”
Corey Feldman must be having a party in his head with the possibility of somehow getting involved with this project!

It was announced in late October that Susie Feldman had filed for divorce from the former child actor, asking for both spousal support and full custody of the couple's 5-year-old son, Zen Feldman.
The former lost boy has since filed legal documents requesting joint custody.
He's also denying Susie any sort of spousal support once the divorce is finalized.
We give it six months before he has a reality show called Stand By Me, where he looks for love with pathetic, disease-ridden, Rock of Love castoffs!
After seven years of marriage, Corey Feldman and his wife Suzie are getting a divorce.
Suzie filed for the split citing irreconcilable differences and demanding that Corey not only pay her attorney fees, but also provide spousal support and give her full custody. (The couple have a 5 year old kid together.)
Sounds like he did something to piss her off! She'll probably be better off anyway. Though, we don't know how much spare money he has to give her for spousal support. We can't even remember the last thing he was in!

Corey Feldman showed up at the Staples Center in Los Angeles for Michael Jackson's public memorial on Tuesday dressed like, well, the man of the hour.
Feldman was costumed as Michael Jackson during his Dangerous era. He was sporting a black military-style jacket, black fedora and sunglasses along with strands of his hair hanging in front of his face.
The 80s child star used a tissue to wipe tears from under his sunglasses, as John Mayer look on puzzled.
