When Jeffrey Dean Morgan was cast in the History Channel's new drama Texas Rising, producers suggested that he lose a little weight for his role.
However, the Grey's Anatomy actor took the instruction a little too seriously.
He confessed that instead of only dropping the 10 pounds producers suggested, he shed 40+ — and you'll never guess how he did it:
"I ate a can of tuna fish a day. I did it in the most unhealthy way possible…I didn't consult with a doctor or anything. We had said maybe we should lose, like, 10 pounds, and I just kept going and going, and by the end of the movie, I was just [moving] like a snail!"
OMG! That's so scary!

But Jeff has his reasons for taking his weight loss to the extreme! He explained this about his character on Texas Rising:
"He had a consumption of tuberculosis. And so I got there and I was probably about 175. I left and I was about 130."
But, the P.S. I Love You actor isn't the only one who's lost some serious pounds for a project. Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, and Jake Gyllenhaal have all slimmed down for roles.
We understand that certain parts require certain looks, but we really hope these stars stay safe!
