Disney just can't help but stir up controversy lately!
The latest comes from teen sitcom Jessie. The newest episode pokes fun at a little boy with a restricted diet, and includes a scene where a nanny throws pancakes at the gluten-free child.
Well fans who suffer from celiac disease, a disorder that causes their bodies to react painfully to gluten, were outraged. And they made their outrage heard.
The Disney channel released a statement on its Facebook page, saying:
The studio has just announced that their new animated series Star Wars Rebels has been put into production and will share many of the creatives from the franchise’s other animated series, Star Wars Clone Wars. It is set to premiere this Fall with a one-hour Disney Channel pilot, after which the series will move to Disney XD.
We know the show will center on events that take place between Episode II and IV, but Disney is keeping a lid on the details. Here’s the only snippet they’ve released:
