We'll be interested to see how this goes!

Mark Ruffalo will be playing The Hulk in the upcoming Avengers movie and he opened up about starring in one of the most highly anticipated comic book movies to date! Here are some HIGHlights:

On being introduced at Comic-Con:

"It was very exciting — and I realized I had some pretty big shoes to fill. Those were my heroes up there! I was a comic book fan growing up. I loved The Hulk and The Avengers — it’s just strange to be entering that world as an actor. I never would have imagined that before.

"I was very, very nervous. I didn’t know what to expect. That’s as close you’re going to get to being a rock star as an actor. The fans — they have very strong feelings toward their comic book heroes."

On Bruce Banner, The Hulk's human alter ego:

"He’s a guy struggling with two sides of himself — the dark and the light — and everything he does in his life is filtered through issues of control. I grew up on the Bill Bixby TV series, which I thought was a really nuanced and real human way to look at The Hulk. I like that the part has those qualities."

On Marvel's split with Ed Norton:

"I’m a friend of Ed’s, and yeah, that wasn’t a great way for all that to go down. But the way I see it is that Ed has bequeathed this part to me. I look at it as my generation’s Hamlet."

We wonder if Ed feels the same way!

Are U looking forward to seeing Mark as The Hulk?

Seriously?

Mark Ruffalo is supposedly in talks to take on the role of The Hulk in the upcoming Avengers film now that Ed Norton is out of the picture.

We don't really see it, but he's a pretty good actor so maybe he could pull it off!

Thoughts??

Hulk Drama!

Wowsa!

Marvel Studios and actor Ed Norton are going at it after the studio announced the actor wouldn't be reprising his role of The Hulk in the upcoming film The Avengers!

Marvel's president of production Kevin Feige released the following statement:

“We have made the decision to not bring Ed Norton back to portray the title role of Bruce Banner in The Avengers. Our decision is definitely not one based on monetary factors, but instead rooted in the need for an actor who embodies the creativity and collaborative spirit of our other talented cast members.

"The Avengers demands players who thrive working as part of an ensemble, as evidenced by Robert, Chris H, Chris E, Sam, Scarlett, and all of our talented casts. We are looking to announce a name actor who fulfills these requirements, and is passionate about the iconic role in the coming weeks.”

Talk about insulting! Ed's rep responded to Feige to tell his side of the story:

“This offensive statement from Kevin Feige at Marvel is a purposefully misleading, inappropriate attempt to paint our client in a negative light. Here are the facts: two months ago, Kevin called me and said he wanted Edward to reprise the role of Bruce Banner in ‘The Avengers.’ He told me it would be his fantasy to bring Edward on stage with the rest of the cast at [Comic-Con] and make it the event of the convention. When I said that Edward was definitely open to this idea, Kevin was very excited and we agreed that Edward should meet with [director] Joss Whedon to discuss the project. Edward and Joss had a very good meeting (confirmed by Feige to me) at which Edward said he was enthusiastic at the prospect of being a part of the ensemble cast.

“Marvel subsequently made him a financial offer to be in the film and both sides started negotiating in good faith. This past Wednesday, after several weeks of civil, uncontentious discussions, but before we had come to terms on a deal, a representative from Marvel called to say they had decided to go in another direction with the part. This seemed to us to be a financial decision but, whatever the case, it is completely their prerogative, and we accepted their decision with no hard feelings… We know a lot of fans have voiced their public disappointment with this result, but this is no excuse for Feige’s mean spirited, accusatory comments. Counter to what Kevin implies here, Edward was looking forward to the opportunity to work with Joss and the other actors in the Avengers cast, many of whom are personal friends of his. Feige’s statement is unprofessional, disingenuous and clearly defamatory. Mr. Norton talent, tireless work ethic and professional integrity deserve more respect, and so do Marvel’s fans.

We're siding with Ed on this one — that comment from Marvel was pretty unnecessary!

But The Hulk bombed anyway, so why bother reprising the role?

What do U think?

Courtney Love Goes On The Twitterttack Against Ed Norton

clovewenn2750661.jpg

Courtney Love has decided to take a break from hating on Lily Allen and turn her focus on ex-boyfriend Ed Norton.

The Tweets are a tad hard to decipher, so the best we can do is to guess that she thinks Ed owes her $300,000 and she has every intention of getting the FBI involved if he doesn't give her the money.

There is also something in there about Brad Pitt, Enron, and "Thirsday."

Bless her heart!

SJP Gets Political!

She's not just into fashion and releasing fragrances!

Actress Sarah Jessica Parker will be joining the President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities in an effort to help with President Barack Obama's arts initiatives.

Also joining the committee are actor/director Forest Whitaker, Edward Norton, Alfre Woodard, cellist Yo-Yo Ma and even Vogue editor Anna Wintour!

Next Tuesday they will all be installed in to the committee by Vice President Joe Biden.

We think SJPeePee is a great choice, actually! Not only is she a television and movie actress, but she was also involved in musical theater and has always been vocal about her appreciation for ballet.

Congrats!

Ed Norton Running NYC Marathon For African Charity

Filed under: Inspiration > Ed Norton

We love to see when celebs use their powers for good!

Edward Norton is planning to run this year's New York City Marathon to fundraise for the Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust in east Africa.

Joining the actor will be three Maasai warriors themselves, two of which will be making their first trip to the big city!

Norton's been involved with the MWCT for 10 years and is now serving as president of the Board. The money raised will go towards the conservation, education and healthcare in the east African region.

He says:

"It’s an effort that I’ve been very personally involved with at all levels. We had previously raised money through dinner party events but this year we wanted to step it up a bit, reach a little higher in terms of the level of funding we try to raise and introduce the work to a wider community. And just as important, we wanted to try to do it in a way that could involve our Maasai friends and partners actively in the effort over here. The marathon seemed like a very organic way to involve them."

Cool!

Good luck, Ed!

Ed Norton Will Hulk Up For Avengers Flick, If The Timing Is Right

Filed under: Film Flickers > Ed Norton

wenn-ednort__opt.jpg

Coming to the big screen in 2012 will be an epic comic book nerds' dream: The Avengers movie!

For those of you who had lives and sex in high school, The Avengers is Marvel Comics version of The Justice League, bringing in all the best of the best superheros into one super group.

Among the list of crime fighters is Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, and the Incredible Hulk, recently portrayed on the big screen by Edward Norton.

Since the announcement that the movie was given the green light, fans have wondered if Ed would go green again. The answer is still a maybe, but not because Ed doesn't want to do it.

He explains:

"I just get very busy. You have to deal with the demands of the moment. I tend to keep my head in the thing I'm doing, and I don't speculate or worry too much about what two or three blocks down the thing is gonna be. I know all these things will reveal themselves and work out or not."

There you have it. If you want Ed in the flick, you better pray nothing else pops up to distract him, like something that might get him an Oscar or at least better reviews than the last Hulk flick got!
