Viola Davis is really good at playing strong women in film.

We're starting to realize it's possible she's so good at acting those parts because she IS a strong woman in real life!

On behalf of PETA, the award winning actress wrote to the Senator Susan Sosnowski of Rhode Island, and urged her to end the maltreatment of elephants that travel with some circuses.

Here's some of what she said:

Justin Bieber is currently in South Africa, playing two stadium shows in Cape Town and Johannesburg.

Aside from doing whatever it is he does to prepare for a big show (reread lyrics/stretch his pelvis for panty melting dance moves) he's getting in some relaxation time.

By relaxation we mean he's exploring Africa's wild side!

He instagrammed a pic of a wild elephant (above) and wrote:

The St. Louis Zoo is now the proud owner of a brand new baby elephant!!

The little cutie baby girl was born to Ellie, a 42-year-old Asian Elephant.

The calf is just about 38 inches tall and weighs 251 pounds! That's a big baby!

The curator of mammals at the zoo said:

This is just bonkers!!

In Tupelo, Mississippi the cops are looking for the gunman who opened fire on a Barnum & Bailey circus elephant!

That's terrible!

Carol, the 39-year-old Asian elephant was shot while outside the Tupelo BancorpSouth Arena yesterday around 2am.

Bob Barker loves helping animals of all sizes!

Three aging elephants - Toka, Thika and Iringa - currently reside at the Toronto Zoo, but it is getting to the point where the zookeepers, animal activists, and Bob Barker want to retire them over at California.

But that's a long trek!

And Elephants can't drive, so it isn't like they can go on a road trip.

Luckily, Canadians are known for their generosity - so the elephants will be getting an air lift from the Royal Canadian Air Force C-17.

And they'll get by with a little help from Mr. Barker!

Joss Stone is so sweet and such a good person, she couldn't help but melt in the presence of a certain cute animal.

A certain very cute, very large animal!

It was a sweet elephant!!

She said:

"Elephants are so beautiful . It's hard to describe it . They are the closest thing to a BFG we have . Beautiful kind creatures . So lucky we can get up close #fb"

We wanna hug an elephant!

Edie Falco is a big animal lovers and a lover of big animals!

She starred in a video for PETA recently, urging parents not to take their kids to the circus.

No, it's not because she doesn't want kids to have fun or parents to do nice things for them.

It's because circuses are so so so cruel!!

Specifically, elephants get it so bad!

Since a very young age, they are tied down, poked, prodded and beaten into submission.

So Edie did a video with PETA and said:

"It was important for me to team up with PETA to speak for the elephants because there's still so much that goes on that I don't know about. What actually goes on behind the scenes in regards to animal abuse. The more I hear, the more I'm shocked."

We're so glad she gave some of her valuable time to do something for the elephants!
