Alain Boublil is the librettist and lyricists behind such HUGE musicals as Les Miserables and Miss Saigon - and the legendary Frenchie just premiered a new work in Manhattan, appropriately titled Manhattan Parisienne.
However, do not go into this show expecting a massive chorus or flying helicopters. Manhattan Parisienne is is super intimate - a mostly two person musical in a small theater. There are no reserved seats! General admission!
The show is a sweet and simple modern-day love fantasia between a French woman and an American man and the musical features some staples of the French and American songbook. From Edith Piaf and Serge Gainsbourg to the Gershwins and Sinatra.
The story is almost irrelevant, though. Manhattan Parisienne is all about the song selections. And they prove to be a very enjoyable experience!
Performed without intermission, the show is like a fancier cabaret act. And because it's mainly all about the songs, our one big note is…. while the cast features some great singers, the intimacy of the theater and the grandness of these songs called for some PHENOMENAL singers. There is a big difference between great and phenomenal singers.
However, this cast did a fine job and it's a more than fine show!
With some bigger voices or bigger names, though, this could play to much larger audiences.
Manhattan Parisienne is very enjoyable - especially for a date night!
Rihanna is filming something in Paris.
We repeat: RIHANNA IS FILMING SOMETHING IN PARIS!!!!
Does this mean we're all closer to new music than we think?!?!?
According to a French RiRi fansite, RebelleRihanna, the Queen herself invited fans to a "unique experience" for her new album, which still remains unnamed.
The update posted to the website (after using some good 'ol Google Translate) says:
Soooooooooo, Scarlett Johansson is pretty much Black Widow in real life!
How do we know?
Oh, just the fact that she managed to get married MONTHS ago without anyone knowing!
Those are some serious spy skills!
The Marvel actress reportedly married her beau, French journalist Romain Dauriac, shortly after she gave birth to their daughter Rose back in September!
How cute is that! Their daughter got to be a part of it all!
Business on the right, party on the left! Or something like that.
Actually we're not sure the green highlights on Demi Lovato's hair would be considered traditionally business-like, but compared to the shaved half of her noggin, they were downright professional!
The singer pretty much rocked every current hair trend as she stepped out in Paris on Friday, and she somehow made it work!
Color us very impressed!
From the neck down she was chicly Parisian in a black leopard-print coat, white pumps, and a classic Prada handbag.
We usually don't care for white pumps, but in this case, the heels go perfectly with the outfit!
Nicely done, DemDem!

Elizabeth Banks made a statement as she arrived to the Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 1 premiere in Los Angeles on Monday night!
The actress wowed in a stunning red floral gown, and she really might be at the top of our best dressed list.
Elizabeth channeled Effie Trinket with a coiffed up-do, a geometric clutch, and gold heels.
We think our favorite part of the look is the complimentary lining of the dress, and she just looks perfect!
Nicely done, Elizabeth!

We love 9 out of 10 songs with whistling - and this is no exception!
We also love songs with a female AND male vocalist harmonizing exquisitely - and this is no exception!
Say hello to Franco-American duo Freedom Fry, giving us some sweet Angus & Julia Stone vibes.
Their song The Wilder Mile is such a happy and clap-along song! It's something you'd imagine hearing in a car commercial!
Check out the infectious good times above!
