This is so ridiculous!
Gabourey Sidibe is one of the most talented, intensely watchable actresses working right now, but for some reason a lot of people just want to talk — and write — about her weight.
No, not from anonymous Internet trolls — from screenwriters! She explained:
Good for her!
Gabourey Sidibe has revealed in her upcoming memoir, This Is Just My Face: Try Not To Stare, that she had secret weight loss surgery in 2016 — after finding out she had type 2 diabetes.
She spilled to People:
"I just didn't want to worry. I truly didn't want to worry about all the effects that go along with diabetes. I genuinely [would] worry all the time about losing my toes."
The star revealed that she struggled for over a decade to lose weight naturally, suffering from depression, anxiety, and bulimia due to her parent's divorce in the meantime. Finally, in May 2016, she underwent laproscopic bariatric surgery to help shed excess pounds.
She candidly described the experience in her memoir, writing:
Empire fans rejoice!!
It has been announced that FOX's hit show is getting the Covergirl treatment with their own limited edition collection!
In the first look at the new campaign (above), Serayah, Gabourey Sidibe, Grace Gealey, and Kaitlin Doubleday can all be seen serving fierce face with their smokey makeup.
The shot was even captioned:
"Power, drama & intrigue rule the#Empire…but not your makeup bag. Excited to announce that COVERGIRL has partnered with @EmpireFox on a limited-edition product collection & four stunning yet #easybreezy beauty looks inspired by the hit show's leading ladies. Stay tuned for the commercial, and keep it here all season for more on how to #GetThatGlam. Spring season premieres Wednesday March 30th on FOX. (Empire TM & © 2016 Fox)"
But we have to wonder why leading lady Taraji P. Henson was noticeably missing from the action!
Did Cookie want no part of the makeup magic??
While it's kind of disappointing, at least her four costars get to shine in the spotlight! Ch-ch-check out a peek at one of the soon-to-launch products:
What didn't happen last night?
Now, almost a year later, most of that charm has worn off and the hit FOX drama is trying to up the ante by throwing whatever it can at the wall to see what sticks.
Wednesday night marked the show's first ever mid-season finale, and with it came practically too much drama to handle.
Not only did Taraji P. Henson's Cookie return to jail — to perform for her former cellmates — Yazz's Hakeem voted against Terrence Howard's Lucious so he's now out of a job, and on top of all that and Naomi Campbell's Camilla finally returned to stir things up!
But in the most intense scene of all Kaitlin Doubleday's very pregnant Rhonda was pushed down the stairs by a mysterious assailant!
We're still loving the show, but if Rhonda or her baby die we will riot.
Unfortunately, Empire isn't coming back for another four months, but make sure to catch the Lyon family when they get back in action Wednesday, March 30 at 9 p.m. EST on FOX!

***WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD***
Well, that was unexpected.
And after a first season that established just how far its characters were willing to push boundaries, the FOX musical drama finally recreated the magic on Wednesday night's new episode by revealing a twist…
One of the main characters is pregnant!!!
Get her freak on, she did!
On Saturday, Missy Elliott performed at the Super Dome in New Orleans and wanted the entire female audience to sweat out their hairdo!
Performing in front of the Essence Fest crowd, the Lose Control songstress rocked a leather jumpsuit with a peace sign in the middle.
The hour long show marked only the second public performance of the 20 year hip-hop veteran in 2015! Missy got the entire crowd on their feet, including Empire star Gabourey Sidibe, who was getting her freak on in the front row!
The highlight of the set was during the performance of Work It, when Missy left the stage and joined the audience on the stadium floor:
