First there was Cheryl Tweedy. Then there was Cheryl Cole. Now, it's just Cheryl.
That's because it was reported on Wednesday that the 32-year-old pop star will be going simply by her first name Cheryl starting next month.
Apparently, Cheryl wants to rebrand herself following her breakup with Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini and will make her mononym debut at the Global Gift Gala in Paris this May.
A source close to the X Factor judge confirmed the name change to Daily Mirror, saying:
Cheryl Fernandez-Versini is ready for a name change… AGAIN!
On Sunday, it was reported that the X Factor judge is preparing to drop her married name following the split from husband Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini and as her new relationship with Liam Payne goes public. It is so ON!
Apparently, the I Don't Care singer is looking to revert back to her maiden name Tweedy or to her first husband's surname Cole. Hmm, very inneresting!
In case you forgot, the brunette beauty married her second husband back in July of 2014 after only dating the restaurateur for three months. The duo's relationship has been reportedly on the rocks for sometime, so the 32-year-old is simply seeking to distance herself together.
A source told The Sun:
Well, this is an interesting wrinkle…
Cheryl Fernandez-Versini will be divorcing her husband Jean-Bernard after just 18 months of marriage, according to reports coming out on Sunday.
Apparently, the singer started divorce proceedings by filing paperwork that cites irreconcilable differences as her reason for leaving he husband.
The Mirror even goes so far as to reveal that the two secretly split from each other five months ago (!), so this has been a long time coming.
According to an inside source, Cheryl came to her senses about the marriage:
