Gotta honor the best!
We're just over two months away from the 59th Annual Grammy Awards, but the list of nominees is phenomenal!
Unsurprisingly, Bey leads the field with NINE nominations for Lemonade including Album of the Year and Song of the Year! The Queen's nine nods bring her career total to 62 making her the MOST-nominated female artist in Grammy history! If Jay Z's wife is able to win eight of the categories, she'll have 28 total awards and surpass country star Alison Krauss as the winningest female!
Ch-ch-check out all the nominees (below) and let us know who you think should win album of the year!
Beyoncé did it again!
We've been wondering when Queen Bey would gift the world with her next release, and last night on HBO, we got our answer!!!
Lemonade dropped and pretty much took over Twitter yesterday evening, with Bey releasing 12 — yes, 12 — new songs alongside music videos from the upcoming album!
It's all available on Tidal now, which is a bit of a surprise that she
It turns out Jack White of the White Stripes and Patrick Carney, drummer for The Black Keys, really don't like each other — and White proved that this weekend in New York City!
Tweeting bright and early Monday morning, Carney confirmed that Jack — who he'd never met before Sunday night, despite an ongoing war of words between bands — tried to pick a fight at a bar!!
The tweets speak for themselves (below):
Well this does NOT sound like good news for Tidal!
It's been less than a month since Jay Z launched his premium music streaming service, and the company is apparently already undergoing a MAJOR personnel change!
Andy Chen, who was a CEO of the Tidal's parent company, Aspiro Group, has reportedly stepped down and will be replaced by former Aspiro CEO Peter Tonstad!
The news comes on the heels of reports that up to 25 more Tidal employees have already been let go. However, the company says that "less than half" of that reported number have actually left.
Tidal released a statement on the big change, saying:
Well, it's official!
Today, some of the biggest titans of the music industry have been gathered by Jay Z to celebrate the re-launch of Tidal — the streaming service that's supposed to change the way we listen to music!!
Tidal will offer CD-quality audio and video but uses no free ad-supported service. The streaming service will offer monthly subscriptions — $19.95 for high quality streaming and $9.95 for standard quality.
In an interview with Billboard, Jay explained that the goal of Tidal was to produce a streaming service that appropriately compensated the artist. The rapper had this to say on if the artists would be making more money on Tidal than on Spotify:
Get ready, music lovers! Something HUGE is coming our way!
For those of you who may not know, Jay Z is getting ready to launch his new music streaming service called TIDAL, and it looks like Hova is trying to build up the hype with a big announcement!
But he's not alone! In fact, it looks like he and Beyoncé called up EVERYONE in the business!
So what exactly is this big announcement they're all waiting for? We guess we'll just have to wait and find out!
Ch-ch-check out the teaser (below)!
Well, it's one for the money! Three for the auction!
Three hundred thousand to be exact!
Jack White was the one who bought the unreleased first recordings from the King himself — Elvis Presley!
And he was able to win by bidding a whopping $300,000! And Jack is NOT being greedy with his new purchase! In fact it's quite the opposite!
The hard rocker bid and won the recordings — which include an 18-year-old Elvis doing covers of That's When Your Heartaches Begin and My Happiness on 78 rpm acetate from 1953 — at an auction that took place at the Graceland Mansion this past January 8th.
And Jack White is planning to release them on vinyl through his label Third Man Records really soon!
