We all know Janelle Monáe is multi-talented! But now, she's looking to expand her skill set even more!
The Electric Lady has been cast in an upcoming movie called Moonlight, which is being produced by Brad Pitt's Plan B Entertainment.
The 29-year-old picked a pretty solid place to start off her film career, considering the actor's production company is also responsible for 12 Years A Slave!
Moonlight follows a young man named Chiron, who is growing up in Miami during the "War on Drugs" era. Over the course of multiple time periods, the protagonist struggles with his crumbling home life, and an awakened sexuality.

Janelle Monáe is getting political with her new music.
The Electric Lady is joined by other artists at Wondaland Records — including Jidenna, Roman GianArthur, Deep Cotton, St. Beauty, and George 2.0 — on an intense track called Hell You Talmbout about police brutality towards African-Americans.
The song is supported by a marching drum beat throughout the emotional anthem, while the 29-year-old and her fellow artists chime in for the gospel-style chorus.
But probably the most intense parts are the verses, in which the singers scream out the names of various victims of officers who have used excessive force, mentioning Walter Scott, Jerame Reid, Phillip White, Eric Garner, Trayvon Martin, Sean Bell, Freddie Gray, Aiyana Jones, Sandra Bland, Kimani Gray, John Crawford III, Michael Brown, Miriam Carey, Sharonda Singleton, Tommy Yancy, Jordan Baker, Amadou Diallo, and Emmett Till.
On Thursday, Janelle shared a snap of the song's artwork to her Instagram, and penned a powerful caption explaining the importance of this track:
Everyone may not have went home a winner at the BET Awards, but these ladies were definitely scoring top spots on the red carpet!
After all, Laverne Cox sizzled in a plunging blue jumpsuit, even teasing a bodychain and underboob flash tattoos for her entrance!
And Blac Chyna and Amber Rose, while matching, were celebrating marriage equality in their white hot ensembles. Yasss!
So much flawlessness was happening!
Janelle Monae even took center stage in a fierce black caped dress and beautiful braids.
Now you know what's coming…

Are you ready to relive one of the best parts of the '90s?!
But the guest spots didn't stop there.
For some reason French Montana performed Bobby Shmurda's Hot N*gga, and Pharrell popped on stage to keep the music going!
If you're thinking this sounds outrageous, it IS! Ch-ch-check it out (below) and see for yourself.
But it's clear only one of them stood out on top! Sorry, Gab!
We love the Being Mary Jane starlet's hair and makeup, but the glittering black gown was a total miss on the red carpet. The sequins just don't seem to fit her right!
At least Janelle got it right in her custom, caped mini dress and statement sandals! She's such an Electric
P.S. Check out Janelle with Jidenna in the gallery (above)! They look amazing!

What's more classic than Star Wars-y yoga and a dapper dude in a suit? Nothing.
She needed to share the stage though because Jidenna was looking so handsome he just HAD TO perform his hit Classic Man!
We're not sure who heated up the stage more: Janelle's yoga movez or Jidenna's hawt suit?!
Watch (below) and decide for yourself!
Janelle Monae would like you to have a seat!
The singer got some unsolicited fashion advice from a fan on Twitter, but she wasn't having it!
And she told him so!
When the fan in question wrote a comment essentially telling the 29-year-old to "be sexy":
"@JanelleMonae girl stop being so soulful and be sexy..tired of those dumbass suits..you fine but u too damn soulful man. 😒😢"
She replied with this:
Ha! Well said!
