The True Detective starlet sizzled on the gray carpet in a cool black jumpsuit and black pumps. The effortless look was also styled with Nigaam, Graziela Gems, and EFFY Jewelry rings!

Maggie, on the other hand, wasn't as understated, dressed in a boxy black blazer exposing just a satin bralet underneath!

Clearly the brunette beauty wasn't being shy, as she completely showed off her toned stomach with this structured outfit!

Maggie Gyllenhaal Calls Out Hollywood For Being Ageist After Losing A Romantic Role Because She's 37!!

maggie gyllenhaal takes on hollywood ageism

Say it ain't so!

On Wednesday, Maggie Gyllenhaal revealed in an interview that she recently lost a role because she was told she was too old! What the what?!

The 37-year-old shared:

"There are things that are really disappointing about being an actress in Hollywood that surprise me all the time.

I'm 37 and I was told recently I was too old to play the lover of a man who was 55. It was astonishing to me. It made me feel bad, and then it made me feel angry, and then it made me laugh."

Though the Oscar nominee was able to laugh it off — we think we're still angry!!

Unfortunately, this is a long standing problem in Hollywood. Remember when Amy Poehler teased Patricia Arquette for her role in Boyhood at this year's Golden Globes?!

The Parks and Recreation star quipped:

"Patricia Arquette is here, so wonderful. So, so wonderful in the film Boyhood. Boyhood proves there are still great roles for women over 40, as long as you get hired when you're under 40."

Gyllenhaal decided to take the high road and chose not to reveal the specific project.

Nonetheless, the brunette beauty is getting quite a bit of Emmy buzz for her role in the mini-series, The Honourable Woman.

She continued:

"A lot of actresses are doing incredible work right now, playing real women, complicated women. I don't feel despairing at all. And I'm more looking with hope for something fascinating."

Rock on, sister!

We wonder what brother, Jake Gyllenhall has to think about his sister's struggles?!

We can only imagine he's pissed.

Maggie, keep doing you girl. We foresee many more roles (and awards) in your future!

Maggie Gyllenhaal & Jennifer Connelly Don't Quite Wow In White At The Met Gala Red Carpet

Maggie Gyllenhaal and Jennifer Connelly at the 2015 Met Gala

A lot of stars shined at the Met Gala, but others just missed the mark.

Among the fashion casualties were Maggie Gyllenhaal and Jennifer Connelly, who were going for wonders in white, but instead just fell flat.

Sorry, ladies, but it's true.

Jennifer Connelly donned a lace Louis Vuitton sheath dress on this year's red carpet.

While we appreciate the effort, that leg-of-mutton sleeve made the ensemble look far too big for her tiny frame. And as if that wasn't enough, her hands were practically swallowed up in that dress.

The Blood Diamond actress ended up looking like a little girl trying on mommy's clothes.

And poor Maggie!

She tried in that floor-length Roland Mouret number, we just aren't exactly sure what it was she was trying for.

From the different-sized straps, to the world's weirdest waist accent, we have no other word's to describe Maggie's red carpet outfit than a hot mess.

But Jake Gyllenhaal's big sis did succeed at something: reminding us why wearing black and brown together was a fashion faux pas to begin with!
