Robert Downey Jr. has gone through his own shares of trials and tribulations.
He understands what it's like to be adored and successful one day and then become the subject of negative attention the next.
Which is why he believes Mel Gibson should be forgiven for the horrible things he said years ago and if given the chance, RDJ would definitely work with the actor and director on Iron Man 4.

Don't get your hopes up yet!
The 49-year-old previously signed a contract with Marvel, stating he would only do 3 Iron Man films, but RDJ is admitting now if the company is desperate to have him star in the fourth film, he'll only do it under one condition:
When we first heard they were making another Mad Max movie, we couldn't believe it!
But after seeing Tom Hardy as a road warrior and Charlize Theron as his badass, robot-armed buddy we're starting to forget there ever was a Mel Gibson!

Talk about the last person you want in your corner!
Disgraced actor Mel Gibson, you know, the guy who unleashed a storm of anti-Semitic remarks during his 2006 DUI, then repeatedly used the N-word while violently disparaging his ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva in secret audio recordings?
Yeah. That guy.
Well, he’s saying this week that he can sympathize with what Shia LaBeouf is going through right now. Mel explained in an interview how Shia’s series of bad behavior is really just the media’s fault!
Gibson broke down what it’s like to be famous, saying:
It's hard to believe that the Mel Gibson arrest and anti-Semitic slur-a-thon was 8 years ago.
Now, after Gary Oldman defended him in a very poorly delivered section of an interview where he basically implied, just like an Avenue Q song, that everyone is a little bit racist, Mel has finally declared his FREEEEEEDOM from this scandalous part of his life, and mentioned in a recent interview that he's moved on, especially in light of Gary's remarks:
They shouldn't call this movie Expendables 3.
With a super-sized cast of hot, ripped actors of all ages that include Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Wesley Snipes, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Terry Crews, Harrison Ford, Kellan Lutz, Mel Gibson, and Antonio Banderas, they should call this Expendables 300!
