Nope! Wrong!

We know you were thinking it was going to be Paula Abdul, and frankly we're a little surprised it isn't, but actually long time friend, guest host, and director/choreographer of the show Adam Shankman will become a permanent fixture at the judges table this season of So You Think You Can Dance.

He seems to be a perfect fit alongside the other old-timers on the judges panel, but what about our Abdrool? Is there a place for her? Nigel Lythgoe, judge and executive producer, says yes - but only for a little while:

"We'll have an empty chair and that empty chair can be filled, I hope one day, by Paula Abdul and by lots of other people…The trouble is, the minute you pull four judges like American Idol, you're just opening up the program and not dealing with what you should be dealing with, which is the talent."

We kind of agree with you there. We don't think last year, or this year with so many judges is going to work out.

But congrats to Adam. We think he'll do fine.

So it was finally about time.

Paula Abdul has officialy released a statement about her new replacement on American Idol, Ellen DeGeneres.

Says Miz Abdul:

"AMERICAN IDOL is a fantastic show that offers an invaluable platform to young talent. Ellen DeGeneres is wildly funny and talented in her own right.

I wish her and the show only the best of luck.”

Inneresting.

We think Paula's hating the fact that the execs at Fox have officially replaced her.

With the exciting news breaking yesterday that Ellen DeGeneres is going to be the 4th judge on the next season of American Idol, Paula Abdul is said to be "very upset" at being permanently replaced.

A source close to Fox says that Paula, like Ellen, was surprised by the news because she had no warning of the announcement and found out the same time as the public.

Supposedly Paula held out some hope that a last-minute deal could have been worked out for her return to Idol, but it's become quite clear that Fox is moving in a different direction.

Better get crackin' on that talk show, Abdrool!

We wonder how many jobs they have between them!

As previously reported, Ellen DeGeneres will be replacing Paula Abdul as American Idol judge, so it seems apropos that the funnywoman found time to call her new costar, Ryan Seacrest on Thursday to chat On Air.

Here are some HIGHlights:

On her qualifications for being a judge:
"The people are the ones that choose the American Idol. Ultimately it doesn't come down to some expert in the music industry, it comes down to everybody at home that says 'that's the person I relate to, that's the person that I'm going to buy music from'."

On her judging style:
"I'm not going to be mean, I hate when Simon [Cowell] is that mean. You can be constructive and criticize somebody that's helpful instead of mean spirited."

On Paula Abdul's departure:
"I hope Paula [Abdul] is okay with it. I don't want anybody to think I took Paula's job away. I feel like she was gone and then everybody was looking for somebody else, then I stepped in. I certainly don't want to be that person that is the evil taking Paula's job away."

Paula isn't even paying attention to all the press!

She's probably drugged herself unconscious resting!

Simon Cowell's 50th birthday bash is upon us and he's crossing the milestone in style!

Sony BMG is hosting the £250,000 black-tie event to be held at Hertfordshire's Wrotham Park for Cowell and 400 of his closest celebrity pals.

Expected guests include Sir Elton John, Kevin Spacey, Kate Moss and Kylie Minogue!

Surely Paula must be invited, too!

Our darling Leona Lewis, Il Divo and Westlife are also said to be performing at the A-list soiree on October 7.

Mezhgan Hussainy, Cowell's reported new girlfriend and American Idol make-up artist, is also invited in addition to THREE of his ex-girlfriends, including Terri Seymour.

How nice that the American Idol judge is so friendly with his past loves.

This sounds like a great party!

Simon Cowell has finally decided to speak about Paula Abdul's departure from American Idol.

It's about damn time! Everyone else has!

Cowell tells Extra that it's "different" without her and he "misses her".

Aww! Is the hardass judge going soft?

Simon says "the chemistry between the judges is different without her". We blame Kara DioGuardi for that. Besides, Paula's been there since the beginning!

When his ex-girlfriend, Terri Seymour, asked him to explain more about the chemistry being off he said "It's like comparing a carrot to a banana".

That's an inneresting comparison.

But Simon isn't worried about Paula's future because she's "someone who will always work."

Obviously. The bills aren't gunna to pay themselves!

She seems to be doing just fine, though, since she landed the hosting gig for VH1's Divas Live and guest starring on Lifetime's Drop Dead Diva.

We're interested to see how this next season will be without Abdrool. Even though it won't be the same, it'll be nice to see some fresh faces on the judging panel like Victoria Beckham and Mary J. Blige!

As we mentioned last month, Paula Abdul will be appearing on Lifetime's Drop Dead Diva.

Notice how she takes a jab at American Idol by saying it's "nice being the only judge". While funny, we're not too sure that'll help get her old job back! That is if there's any hope left for that!

As much as we love to hear her slur her words, she never really gets to the point!

Paula Abdul claims that the reason she stepped down from the American Idol judging table was NOT due to money, although she doesn't give any other reason.

“I had to stand on my principle,” Abdul tells TV Guide. “I’m going to miss the experience of watching young talent evolve into a place where they get to take off and soar."

Or fall into the abyss?!

She continues, "I stand on principle where many people stand on money. I’m a hard-working artist. I’ve lasted in this business for 23 years. And you can’t do that unless you are good at what you do.”

Paula may not have an answer, but she definitely has confidence to back it up!

“I believe in myself and you have to have your own self respect," she says. "And sometimes decisions are very difficult to make, but I’ve always believed that at the core I’m a survivor. There’s not one thing I’ve done that I’ve really set my mind to that I’ve failed at.”

Oh yeah! Whatever happened to her Bravo reality show?!

But, Abdul does have some goals in mind for the future.

“I definitely want to do a talk show because it would be different. It would be a lot of fun variety with a ton of unexpected stuff and tributes to everyday people getting their big chance.”

So eloquent! Paula's talk show would be amazeballs!

Time for the dog to learn some new tricks!
