Former exec producer Nigel Lythgoe believes the time was right to pull the plug. He said:
"I'm grateful they decided to pull it. I'm likening it to a heavyweight boxer. You have to know when to quit. You don't want all these young kids coming along and knocking you out and taking all the credit. When you have been such a heavy puncher."
Nigel left the show to create So You Think You Can Dance, which this season adds former Idol judge Paula Abdul to its ranks!
So what does Paula think about the end of an era? She said:
We caught up with one of our favorite celebrity choreographers at EDGE Performing Arts Centerin Hollywood, and we were completely blown away by Sheryl and her dancers' rendition of Paula Abdul's Cold Hearted!
So You Think You Can Dance is gearing up for its twelfth season and the FOX reality show is already making a splash with these latest announcements!
Paula Abduland Jason Derulowill be joining judge Nigel Lythgoe on the reality show as the new season's judges, and everyone seems excited!
Here's what Niger Lythgoe said:
"With the new and exciting format comes a new and exciting panel of judges. Paula is an incredible artist and she brings the perfect combination of expertise and heart to the panel. Jason's insight, humor and creativity will add a new perspective to the panel that we haven't had before."
The news comes after the recent news that judge Mary Murphy would be leaving the show. We guess the producers didn't want to wait when it came to her replacements!
Now that support for the show is starkly divided, producers are trying to find a solution that makes everyone happy...like firing Josh from the series.
According to an insider, most viewers now watch the show for the daughters, like Jessa Seewald and Jill Dillard. Additionally, Josh's absence wouldn't be too noticeable since he currently lives in Washington, D.C., a long ways away from Arkansas where the show is filmed.
So, what do YOU think about firing Josh from the show?
