RANK: What's The Best Cover Song Of All Time??

| Filed under: Music MinutePrinceDolly PartonPollsWhitney HoustonPlay With Perez

no title

Good cover songs come when an artist takes the original and brings their own style to it.

GREAT covers are when an artist makes it so much their own that people nearly forget the original!

But what is the best cover song of all time??

Can anything beat Whitney Houston slaying her cover of Dolly Parton's I Will Always Love You? Maybe Sinead O'Connor's fragile take on Prince's Nothing Compares 2 U?

(Did you even realize I Love Rock And Roll wasn't a Joan Jett original??)

Vote and let us know what YOU think, Perezcious readers!

Prince's Estate Is Holding The Late Icon's Posthumous Music Hostage For… A REALITY SHOW??

prince heirs trying to get reality tv show

We're not sure what Prince fans will think about this.

On Monday, it was revealed that the Purple Rain singer's heirs went to war with producer George Ian Boxill over the release of his collaboration with the A-lister, titled Deliverance, because the EP would hinder their plans for a reality show. Oh, c'mon.

Reportedly, the late music icon's loved ones are in the early development stages for a TV show all about how their lives have been affected by Prince's passing. According to TMZ, the family wanted to debut the Little Red Corvette artist's posthumous music on the reality show, which is why they picked a fight with Boxill to keep Deliverance under wraps. Seems like a money making scheme to us!

Regardless, there is no scheduled air date for this new unscripted show as only a production company has signed on to the project. Perhaps if the family's show doesn't get picked up they'll stop holding the unreleased tunes hostage?? Fingers crossed that's what happens!

In fact, it was revealed that the Little Red Corvette singer's estate has sued the producer behind the new Prince project on Wednesday.

As we previously reported, George Ian Boxill has already dropped one of the six songs he wrote with the music legend between 2006 and 2008. Boxill's initial plan was to release Deliverance on the one year anniversary (April 21) of Prince's death.

Although we're not sure that'll actually happen now as the estate is taking legal action against the producer. Apparently,

prince new song new album deliverance

We lost Prince just about a year ago, but the late musician is still gifting fans with new music.

On Tuesday, the first song off the A-lister's posthumous EP (titled Deliverance) was dropped thanks to the singer's longtime collaborator, Ian Boxill. The hitmaker and Mr. Boxill wrote and produced six tracks between 2006 and 2008, back when Prince was an independent artist.

In order to properly pay tribute to the music legend, Ian along with the Rogue Music Alliance plan to release Deliverance in its entirety on the one-year anniversary of Prince's passing (April 21). Boxill noted in a statement:

"I believe Deliverance is a timely release with everything going on in the world today, and in light of the one-year anniversary of his passing, I hope when people hear Prince singing these songs it will bring comfort to many. Prince once told me that he would go to bed every night thinking of ways to bypass major labels and get his music directly to the public. When considering how to release this important work, we decided to go independent because that's what Prince would have wanted."

Be sure to listen to Deliverance's title track ahead the EP's release this Friday (below)!
