The newest and most horrible form of animal cruelty is called "trunking."

Trunking is where two fighting dogs are simply locked in the trunk of car.

Then the dogs fight to death as the owner drives around, blasting music to cover up the sound.

After ten or fifteen minutes, the owner pulls over, dumps the body of the dead dog and continues on with the winner, waiting until he heals up enough to fight again.

It's absolutely terrible and it's so good that there are people out rescuing these dogs, like Miami-Dade County Animal Services, who rescued a group of dogs that were thought to have been used for trunking.

Five adult dogs and four puppies were rescued from a man's home in terrible condition.

While many spent their weekend watching TV and eating cheeseburgers, he spent his weekend visiting the Best Friends Animal Society.

He instagrammed a pic (above) and wrote:

"Who in their right mind doesn't think that dogs are probably the best thing god ever made?"

He even plugged their upcoming huge adoption event in LA!

Over 50 rescue groups will be gathering at the La Brea tar pits with over 1,000 adoptable animals!

That's crazy! So many pets need homes!

This is certainly an incredible rescue story!

Xena, a Staffordshire terrier mix, was nearly starved to death, weighing only 4-pounds when she was brought into a Georgia animal shelter.

That's how she got her name, Xena the Warrior, because she fought for her life.

After she was healthy enough to be adopted, Jonny Hickey, an 8-year-old autistic boy was given Xena after his mom adopted her.

A Texas non-profit organization has a unconventional way of bringing abandoned animals to new homes!

They enlist the help of truck drivers!

Which makes a lot of sense when you think about it!

They're always on the road anyway, why not bring a furry companion along the way to keep them both company!

Ever seen Animal Planet's hit series Pit Boss??

It's a docudrama that follows Shorty Rossi, owner of Shorty's Rescue.

They're an organization devoted to pit bull rescue.

Well, Sebastian Saraceno and Ronald Clark from the show have collaborated with indie rock band Post Trauma to release a song!

It's called Risen and not only is it pretty rockin', a portion of the proceeds from its release will go to SoCal dog charities and rescues!!

So they got to put a little more music out there into the world and they get to help doggies!!

Sounds perfect to us.

Kashmir and Savannah!!

"These are my 2 girls, Kashmir and Savannah, both rescues. Savannah (the all black one) was days away from being put to sleep when we found her, she had been adopted 3 times and brought back because of behavioral issues and we were her last chance. We've now had her for about 8 years and she is such a wonderful and loving girl! Kashmir was in a kennel with several other dogs that were much bigger than her and when I walked in she locked eyes with me. She managed to fight her way to the front of the kennel so I could grab her and as soon as I had her in my arms I knew she was coming home. She was in the very first kennel like she was just waiting for me to come and get her."

That is such a beautiful story!

Lena Dunham fulfilled a childhood dream of hers when she adopted a cute lil shelter dog.

She got the pooch from BARC, a Brooklyn area shelter, only hours before she walked the red carpet at the Girls season 2 premiere in New York City.

Apparently, her dog, Lamby, was having troubling adjusting to his new home, so he had to be put on Prozac.

How do we know he's on the anti-depression drug??
