In Maryvale, Arizona there's an interesting problem: large packs of wild chihuahuas are running loose!
All it takes is a few unspayed stray dogs to blow up a wild pup population, and that's just what happened in this Arizona town.
There are apparently so many packs of wild chihuahuas roaming around,
Ahhh! The cuteness! We're sorry but this is just the best thing ever.
Olympic skier Gus Kenworthy isn't just a silver medalist in men's slopestyle…
He's a Sochi stray dog savior!
We've previously mentioned that Gus has been trying to rescue some pups and now we know everything is getting real.
He's actively trying to adopt a momma dog and her four puppies! And, guess what! He did it!
Gus ended up staying in Sochi about a week longer than he originally planned, just so he could get all the paperwork straight.
And now finally it has happened… the pups are coming to America! He tweeted out the cutest pic ever, with him and one of the pups Rosa (above), and another one detailing their trip home, which you can see (below). He wrote:
Sochi sounds like a magical place of malfunctioning everything, 3rd world accommodations and dogs, just so many dogs, absolutely everywhere.
Oh and wolves. Don't forget the majestic Russian Hotel Wolf. A rare breed indeed.
Thank goodness there are caring people out there not only rescuing the pups but also adopting them!
Not only has Olympic freeskier Gus Kenworthy been riding the adoption train, others have joined in!
Like Olympic snowboarder Lindsey Jacobellis! She fell head over snowboard in love with a Sochi stray puppy!
She shared a SUPER cute pic (above) and wrote:
This is def an unlikely couple, but that just makes this all the cuter!
Penny the silkie chicken and Roo the two-legged chihuahua were both rescued by Alicia Williams of Duluth Animal Hospital.
In a super cute turn of events, the two have become an inseparable pair.
They strut around together, they play together and they even nap together. Which is probably so adorable that if you look directly at it, you'll go blind.
Penny the chicken was rescued first from a lab, Alicia said:
There are few things better than an animal being rescued.
We love when humans go out of the way to save cutie critters.
Especially when that critter is a big stag!!
There was some seriously heavy snowfall in East Tyrol, Austria and some skiers were enjoying the fresh powder, until they eventually came across
Even though U.S. Olympic freeskier Gus Kenworthy isn't actually competing until tomorrow, he's already becoming well known at Sochi.
For being the guy who's
Ever since word of the Sochi stray dog cull spread around the world, animal activists have been up in arms.
Thankfully, a Russian billionaire is doing what he can to set up shelters and help more strays be saved from certain death.
Oh and he gave locals a bad ass dog rescue golf cart!
So, if you're visiting Sochi for the games and you have a heart… adopt a freakin' dog!!
There are shelters set up in the mountains outside the city, and now in the city, with dozens and dozens of dogs waiting to be rescued.
Thankfully, the Humane Society International (HSI) has some tips! They recommend
