Turns out most Americans would rather watch grown men in tight pants tackle each other than see an American Idol judge air hump a teenager!

Last night, the BIGGEST stars in music showed up to present, perform and grind on the American Music Award stage. But apparently Justin Bieber and Nicki Minaj's booty dancing, and PSY's surprise boogie with MC Hammer wasn't enough to win ABC the ratings top spot.

2012 broadcast of the music kudos was down over 20 percent. In total viewers, it was down from last year's 12.0 million to just 9.47 million.

What happened? FOOTBALL — that's what!!

While Pink was being thrown all over the stage, 13.3 million pig-skin-lovers tuned in to watch the Baltimore Ravens play Pittsburgh Steelers.

LAME!!

Maybe next year they'll give out the crystal prisms on an other day, and score their ultimate goal — ratings domination.

Selena Gomez may or may not have Bieber Fever… but she sure caught something!

While Justin Bieber sang his heart out at the American Music Awards last night, it seems his ex (?) Selenita was the one who ended up with a sore throat!

Sounds like the two partied a bit too hard last night, because Mz. Gomez landed herself in the emergency room this morning!

Either that, or

Lily Aldridge isn't the only model that likes to indulge in a little fast food!

Heidi Klum may have been wearing couture, but that didn't stop her from hitting up McDonald's after the AMAs on Sunday night.

With publicist and BFF Desiree Gruber by her side, the two chowed down on a Big Mac and fries, and posted the evidence on Twitter.

Guess even supermodels can't pass up a good deal. Ha!

The 40th anniversary of the American Music Awards last night proved to be packed full of AH-Mazing performances and presenters!

PerezHilton.com had the chance to catch up with everyone from Jordin Sparks to Cyndi Lauper on the red carpet to find out just what they were looking forward to… as well as some of their guilty pleasures!

We had such a great time and were definitely surprised by some of those dream collaboration choices! Ha!

Country diva Carrie Underwood rocked three different outfits at the American Music Awards on Sunday night, and she looked impossibly gorgeous in all of them.

Her hubby is one super lucky guy!

After appearing on the red carpet in a long & lacy Abed Mahfouz number, Carrie changed into a cobalt blue strapless piece by Sarli Couture.

This is definitely a notice-me! outfit. Not that Carrie would ever have any trouble being noticed, of course!

The pleats and ruffles on this dress create a unique silhouette, and the black sequin trim offsets the shiny blue satin nicely.

Miz Underwood gave the pretty frock a rocker feel with embellished Giuseppe Zanotti booties.

Flawless country queen!

He threw us off the scent by bringing his mom to the AMAs, but we KNEW something about the way Justin Bieber acted last night smelled fishy!!

The fish smell, as it turns out, was Selena Gomez!!

Don't believe us? The proof is in the pudding seafood ceviche!

Ch-ch-check out the two of them trying to sneak out of a party bus last night (above), so they could shake their tail-feathers in a bar and, presumably, kiss and make-up!

After their much ballyhooed break-ups and make-ups, we really don't know what to expect from them anymore!!

One witness at da club revealed:

"[Justin and Selena were] dancing on each other . . . they seemed to be in great spirits and were clearly enjoying their time together."

We half wondered whether Biebs would go home with vamping vixen Jenny McCarthy, LOLz!!

For now relations are good between America and Canada, but who knows what tomorrow might bring?!
